Why should I even bother anymore?

So I'm up to Gold again. And the first team I play is almost entirely 100 players. So deep in talent their reserve roster consists of (only) 2 more 100 players.

It is time to pack it in until OOTP22 comes out.

I think PT21 will be my last foray. About mid summer, I realized I was spending a lot of time on PT, wasn't really having fun, and wasn't having any time for OOTP itself. Speaking only for myself, I find the fun to begin to diminish fairly quickly. It is a blast at the beginning, but tails off.

I think every person has a threshold in PT.


For some who do not mind spending money, they progress to and capture trophy's in Perfect Leagues.


For others who do not mind spending time, they progress to the upper levels and sometimes even to the Perfect Leagues.


For yet others, the first 3-4 months can see your team progress into the middle levels before money and time run out and the year-to-year grind becomes predictable.


It's understandable - and expected - that the crowd of active players will diminish as time goes on... and it's also expected that OOTP will do its best to keep players interested as long as possible...


But reality is a diminished following as the year progresses. Neither a good thing or a bad thing - just reality.

I think more players reached that point much sooner this year than last. PT19 cannot count because it was so new to everyone. I still play but my interest level wanes as I watch more 100's come into play every week.

It doesn't seem great to me that pulling perfect Babe Ruth is worth less than various gold bottlenecks since better perfect Ruths keep coming.

Agreed, I've settled into Gold - some seasons earning Wildcard - some seasons on the edge of relegation. This season I'm pretty sure I'm heading back to Silver.


I check in about 3 times per week to see where I'm at and if anything is available that might help. PP earnings to buy AH players now take 3-5 weeks to earn, but even if I can pick up a player, the average quality in Gold is outpacing me.


It's logical how it all works, but it seems like the game is missing an opportunity to keep it challenging for the vast majority of players.


I, like others, think there's simply WAY too many 100 cards. 100s and high 90s should be rare - then maybe there would be better competition.

My sense is that its more than just an overabundance of 100s. Looking through the threads here, it seems like (to my admittedly untrained eye) there are very few opportunities for real choice in team composition. Either you follow the meta and lock yourself into a small handful of cards, or you aren't competitive.

This was a problem with 19, that the smaller card base meant fewer true options, but 20 did a wonderful job improving on it. Is it just my imagination, or has 21 regressed some on this?


But what do I know... I'm just a newb who burnt out on PT after about 2 months or so of intense play in 21. Sure, I've found my way back and rekindled my love for 20, but when I log in to 21, I find myself not caring.

And they added 13 new 100's last night. These cards are faster than a moving bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings... wait, that's Superman. But these cards are supermen. How do you have cards better than peak cards? Do you not already take the very best stats of the player for a peak card? If so, why make cards better than the player ever was?

That's how these game work. FIFA has in-forms, then team of the year, then team of the season all giving the same best players slight boosts so the top meta teams want to upgrade

Yeah. They should throw out the usage of the word "Peak" on cards. Maybe call them "Top Trustat."

Edit: Imagine how much more cash they could generate with stadium cards being released through the year. There are plenty of stadiums in history to do that. They could dump park factors in favor of the more profitable stadium cards and/or packs.

But, being a numbers based game, it won't take long at all for some very smart people to figure out which are the best parks to use for which strategies, and you'll just see the same 2 or 3 parks with the same 2 or 3 rosters on all the top teams.

Have you guys looked at tourneys recently? The bronze Bo3 are a gold mine if you have the time to spam. It costs nothing to build the team and the prize of 2k is really nice. I have better income right now than any other point in the game

Seemed good at first, but 21 consecutive eliminations and I'm back to Bo7's.
