FLUSHING, New York : In a surprise move today the New York Mets have replaced their General Manager Brodie Van Wagonen with a relatively unknown 43year old Mikko Fightmaster. Fightmaster, who was a standout collegiate catcher at the University of Florida and the former Athletic Director at ITT Technical Institute, is taking over a team mired 17 games back in the National League East with a 26-35 record. Team owner Fred Coupon has decided to retain the services of Van Wagonen as the teams new Assistant to the General Manager. Coupon was unwilling to define the role of the former GM stating that “There has never been a question as to Brodie’s front office acumen and we look forward to his continued contributions to the New York Mets.” There appears to be no shortage of work for the new GM as the Mets rank near the bottom of the National League in most offensive categories while slashing .226/.310/.376 as a team. As expected, the Mets pitching staff is the real show at Citi Field boasting an NL best team ERA, runs allowed, and batting average against. Staff ace and two time Cy Young award winner Jacob DeGrom is anchoring the rotation with a 2.59 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and an ERA+ of 161. The lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal offense is IF Jeff McNiel who is slashing .343/.394/.512 with 11 doubles through the teams first 61 games. Time will be the great determinant of the value of Fightmaster’s 3-year $1.5m contract. “I’m ready to hit the ground running”, said a visibly excited Fightmaster. “Out first priority is the upcoming amateur draft and I plan to rely heavily on my assistant during this process”. The Mets, who have the 19th pick in this years draft, will be looking to bolster their 17th ranked minor league system. Fightmaster added, “It is going to be a challenge, a challenge I am looking forward to. Now, where did Brodie run off to, I need a coffee. It is going to be a long day.”

New York Trades Davis for Tamps Bay's Arozarena
June 6th, 2020
FLUSHING, New York - In the first major transaction of the Fightmaster Era the New York Mets have reached a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, sending 27-year-old minor league 3B J.D. Davis and 17-year-old minor league 2B Junior Tilien to the Rays in exchange for 25-year-old minor league CF Randy Arozarena and 26-year-old minor league RHP Diego Castillo. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon. Tampa Bay will retain a portion of Castillo's remaining contract. For the season, Davis is hitting at a .162 clip with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and has scored 10 runs. He has 18 hits, 17 walks and a .273 on-base percentage. ![]() Last edited by MadMets; 01-26-2021 at 09:16 AM. |

The New York Mets and Houston Astros have made a swap. Players involved in the transaction are the Mets 29-year-old CF Jake Marisnick and the Astros 24-year-old minor league 1B J.J. Matijevic and 25-year-old RHP Yohan Ramirez. New York will retain a portion of Marisnick's remaining contract. This move comes after the Mets acquired their center-fielder of the near future, Randy Arozarena, from the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this June. Arozarena has continued his productive offensive attack while tuning up for his debut with the Mets. At the Mets Triple-A affiliate the center-fielder has slashed .355/.432/.516 in 8 games. Marisnick is hitting .130 for the season with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has 9 hits in 69 at-bats and played in 32 games. Edit 1 - Arozarena welcomed himself to Citi Field with a home run in his first at-bat for the Metropolitans. He took a 2-2 pitch from Chicago Cub's starting pitcher Jon Lester and deposited a bullet into the right field bleachers. ![]() Edit 2 - Unfortunately the Mutts... er I mean the Mets went on to lose the game 6-2.
