Unable to open or create data folder

Hey there! I just bought the game on steam, first time giving this franchise a try and I'm really excited. I tried to start the game and got an error message saying "Unable to open or create the application data folder '$USERDATA'! Please reinstall Out of the Park Baseball." and it doesn't even let the game start.

I have tried running the game as administrator and reinstalling it.

I did some research and I believe this is an issue with a non-ASCII character in my user name (the ã in João). I've seen people saying that you can change the data folder by editing a config file but since the game doesn't even open, there's no config file in appdata.

Is there any way to fix this or do I just have to give up and refund the game? I've found a thread with the exact same problem and one of the devs emailed or dmed the guy to fix the problem so any chance you could do the same to me?

Sorry about that!

There are a few potential fixes for the non-ASCII character issue.

The quickest way to find what works best for you would probably be if you can open a support ticket so the support guys can work with you on that.
