Look What I Discovered In-Game When Changing Screen Size!

When I've done in-game play, I've always felt it was suboptimal that the score in the top left shows only runs, and not hits or errors.

I googled around to see whether anyone else has brought this up, and not only has someone done so, they actually have a solution: change screen size resolution! If you make it at least 1920 x 1280, you can see RHE.

My resolution is already at max, but since I have a 4K screen on my laptop, I went to display settings and saw where my resolution is indeed at top end, but Scale and Layout setting is at 250%, which makes the screen behave like it's at 1536 x 864 screen. Therefore, runs only and not RHE.

So I changed the scale from 250% to 225%, and lo and behold: RHE shows up!

Not only that, but season stats show up for batters. Nice bonus! Although the player faces get a little smaller, but I'm like, not a bad tradeoff.

So, I'm thinking, let's experiment a little more and change Scale and Layout to 200%:

OMG, look at that! Now I have a full nine-inning linescore up there! How cool is that!

So what if we go the full 4K and change Scale and Layout to 100%?

Ehhhhh ... too much.

Yeah, there's a few places that depending on screen size, different things are shown. The shop player window is another one where depending on space, it can show very little or have multiple columns for ratings and the like. Obviously the team transaction page will vary as well - bigger setups can have 3 rows of windows to display your minors teams, smaller ones will be 2 rows.

Nice trick, Chucksabr--I didn't realize that could be done. My home laptop screen is small, so I sometimes connect to a large tv to play a game and then am trying different settings for the display output. Thanks for sharing.

I have a 23" monitor but it has never been the width that has been a problem, but height. I found that if I added the player widgets at the bottom of the screen it made the lineup widgets "invade" the playing field too much. I suspect this might be to do with ballpark camera settings, which I have tried to fix with limited success. Wish there was a detailed section in the manual about camera settings. I cribbed a post on it but have still struggled to set the cameras how I want, which is to give as full a view of the stadium and playing field as possible without it seeming like you're in the nosebleeds.

That’s ... big.

I have a 15” laptop. My external monitor is only for mail and browsers and I flip it to portrait mainly so websites can display like newspapers.

Thanks for sharing your rig.

Yes definite difference when you have a desktop monitor vs Laptop. Mine is a 27" monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution.

At the point in life where "BIG" helps my eyes a lot. Don't think I could play on a laptop anymore.

Your improved view certainly looks good though.

I'm not really a game player. This is actually the only game I play! So as cool as a 27-incher would be to have, it wouldn't make sense to me.

I only wish the portion in yellow could be tightened up a bit. Everything looks way too spaced out in that part.

Being a sim racer I have triple 27" screens. OOTP looks awesome when windowed and stretched half way across each side screen, where I place all the info boxes, so the field of play is completely clear, except for the pitch locator display that I place between the mound and home plate

Due to an emergency purchase back in college, I have a monitor that's pretty much locked to 1360x768, and this tip will be pretty life changing for playing this game. I already noticed a few weird effects even going between fullscreen and borderless fullscreen, but this takes the cake.

I'm on a 14" HP. i just connected my 32"? tv to my laptop yesterday. Trying OOTP like this for the 1st time in 2-3 years. What resolution do you have the game at? i have it set to maximized now but i am not seeing any difference. Hopefully there's a difference in game.
