Not Enough Skaters

Hi,

I literally made an account on the forum to try and resolve this issue I encountered today.

I am in my 2nd season with Cracovia playing in the PHL and trying to play my final game in the final series of the play offs, however 2 of my players are on injury list and 2 of my players have been called up to international games which leaves me with not enough skaters to play the game (keep getting the notification). I tried moving players from either reserves or one of the youth teams but I am not getting the option to do so. I am playing as GM so cannot myself edit the lines, but only can ask the coach to do so. The coach already has put some defenders in the LW and RW positions to try resolve the issue but that leaves one of the defence positions empty. What should I try doing to overcome this issue?

That error message may be due to not having enough forwards dressed (we're changing that message in the update to be a little more specific that it is now.) Try right-clicking on the defencemen being used as forwards and changing their main position to the one they're currently being used at. Does that let you continue?

I tried doing that to the defender (it was only 1 actually) by changing his position to right wing, but unfortunately it is still telling me 'Not enough skaters to create lineup for Comarch Cracovia'. I believe it is because normally the lineup consists of 4 lines of defence and not 3 as in NHL and because one of the defenders is used as right winger then one of the defence positions on 4th line is empty. Due to injuries and international call ups I have 21/22 dressed and this creates the problem. Normally I would just move someone from the reserves, but for whatever reason I am not getting that option.

Cool, thanks for the support and instructions how to upload, I have just done it and the rar file is called 'rafcfc cracovia bug PLH', let me know if it does not work or if I somehow uploaded it incorrectly. Thanks again.

Looks like a couple of things are going wrong there, for some reason it's applying a transfer window to signing a player contracted to your farm team when it shouldn't (I think there's a database setting causing that) and it's not allowing you to sign players from your junior team instantly. I'm not sure of the cause of the second one, so we're going to have to take a closer look there.

For now, if you want to get around it before we have it fixed, you can cheat a bit by starting a new game that's not in challenge mode turning commissioner mode on in it (the Manager Options screen), then exiting and saving, and copying the game_settings.dat file from it to this save, overwriting the one that's there. That'll allow you to edit a player or two onto your team so you can play that last game.

Actually, there's another option now: if you're on Steam and switch to the public beta version of the upcoming update (see https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=324721 for the details on how to do that), we were able to get the fix for this into the newest test build, so you'll be able to sign players from your U20 team (or one of the other junior teams) instantly.

Thanks for all of your support and help Jeff! I have used the open beta which enabled me to sign someone from U20 and play the game so thanks again, much appreciated!

Hello, I am having the same issue. Year 1 in IceHL. Players got called up, coupled with some injuries and now there isn't enough skaters. No money to sign anyone either.

I had a similar issue in the ECHL before, and had to re sign and sim through the season to find a new job.
