Couple of questions

I had a starting pitcher suspended for 8 games. I wanted to bring up someone from AAA in the meantime as he was supposed to start twice during that time. However I couldn't demote him to get out of the way as he has a major league contract and I couldn't put him on the DL so I couldn't bring anybody up as that would put me over the 25 man limit. Is there someway to get around that? Also I want to hire a scout but when I try I can offer him any job except scout? What am I doing wrong?

I believe, according to MLB rules, a suspended player counts against the active roster (though he's technically consigned to a restricted list). One exception is for drug suspensions, if I'm not mistaken.

I had thought that whether a replacement for the suspended player would be allowed would depend on the length of the suspension. It seems not.

There also seems to be an assumption that a player couldn't do something on the field resulting in a 50 game suspension as was handed out for the banned substance incident described above.

Had MLB handling the Astros players properly and got proof of cheating without giving blanket immunity, how would that have been handled? Clearly suspension of 40 or 50 games or even a season in some cases would have been justified. But the incidents happened mostly on the field. (Dugout is part of the field because an ejected player, coach, or manager is not permitted in the dugout.) It would clearly be impractical for a team to play a quarter or a third of the season short multiple players.

Speaking of the Asterisks, I saw where Dusty Baker was complaining about booing by fans saying we've been punished. No, Dusty, the boos are because the players weren't.

I hire the best one available unless he wants more money than the owner pays me.

That's not the problem. When I go to offer him a contract it won't let me hire him as a scout. I can offer him a job as a pitching coach or trainer or anything but a scout?

Go to front office then click scouting tab.

A storm took the power out this morning so I had plenty of time to play on my laptop. I found the setting to enable me to hire a scout. Underneath game settings there is a box that says to enable complete scouting system that wasn't checked. Stupid me I was looking for a box that said hire scout. Thanks Brad.
