Eppa for sure. Smoltz, Carlton & Gagne were the others that immediately made my roster, but a couple others looked viable as well.

No idea, but I'm intrigued by Matt Harvey as a Mets fan.

Yep Harvey definitely looks playable, Flanagan also comes to mind...
They sure do love dropping quality pitchers in these sets. |

So I tried three of them today with mixed results so far. Carlton got clobbered twice in a row in neutral parks. Flanagan, surprisingly, has done the best. Scott is okay, but nothing to write home about.
ERAs: Carlton 18.00, Scott 3.00, Flanagan 0.00. Small sample sizes for sure. Will update on Sunday. We will see if any can stick on my G.321 playoff roster. I will give a try with Smoltz, Rijo and Wells on Saturday when I find an opening for each.

Carlton has been pretty good for me, so far. I’ve also had good success in the bullpen with Smoltz and Ward. I like to cycle in a lot of relievers, so I could see myself also using Harvey, Price, and Flanagan.

I envy people who can get toppers (like Eppa or Gagne) on day 1 or day 2 of a new set... I only can focus on a few choice ones, certainly not enough to get a topper this soon.

Carlton has been good so far in his starts and Smoltz is crushing it in a closer role. Of course this is with a very small sample.

Kevin Brown doing surprisingly well in my rotation. Scott still looking good. I will be trying Wells, Tanana, Smoltz, Price & Ward today.

I really want to try out some of the righty groundballers like Harvey and Rijo but I need to wait for next season because of my cheese setup. Eppa has been doing very well. Don't have Gagne yet but the people in my league who have been running him have had really good results.
Just an FYI if you go into the search box in the top right and search for the player it'll show you all the teams in your league running him so you can get a bigger sample size of performance. |

Scott still good. He will go for me if I make it to the WS. David Wells has been the best performer of the new cards by far.

Wells and Scott surprise me a little bit as your pick of the litter. I looked at those and I felt that they would be getting killed in diamond. I personally felt Harvey, Smoltz, Carlton, and maybe Flanagan were the best of the non-topper pitchers.

Rixey hit the rotations of the Perfect league playoff teams. Some have as their new ACE.

Not too surprised honestly. Noodles and Reuss are worse in everything but stuff, but that stat doesn't seem to carry nearly the weight of movement or even control. Plus he is an extreme groundballer like Reuss, Noodles is just a regular groundballer. Rixey also has far less pronounced splits, basically none. He is a beast if you're running lefty starters.

BTW, Wells did great in the playoffs. It was my offense that killed me in the end.
