Problem with 2nd league in custom game

Finally have some time to play the game and I am trying to add a 2nd league (Russian league) to my existing Original SIX NHL. This is a custom game in the year 1962 - Real teams but fictional players. The Russian league is added on July 1st and everything runs ok until the first pre-season game. At that point, whenever I try to sim the new Russian league, the game would crash and return to desktop. The existing NHL games can sim and complete properly.

I took a closer look. Is this because the Russian league has $0 contract? Not enough players in the lineup? Empty lines? I let CPU to manage all teams and my role is only commissioner. Not sure what the problem is.

I have uploaded my league files to FTP (Sim Hockey World Test.lg.zip). Please help!!

The team rosters are filled with what appear to be game-generated emergency replacement players (which get created when an AI team can't fill a complete roster at game time), that's likely the problem since they aren't intended to be used exclusively by a team. Did you create the league with "add new players" turned off? That'll leave the rosters blank - it's intended mainly for someone who wants to populate the league by adding historical teams and/or importing players. Without that option turned on, I can create a Russian league in the same setup and it works normally.

Thanks Jeff. I think that's the problem. I removed all the players and created new ones. Edited them to be on the teams ($1000 one year contracts). Now the game moves forward correctly. And yes, I believe I did not check the "new players".

Problem solved

Actually, the problem comes back again. The roster and lineup seem fine (20/20 dressed, with newly created players). This worked a bit earlier tonight.

However, now the game crashes again and upon restart, I went in to view the actual game. Starting goalies are missing. How can they be missing? Is this what's causing the crash? Because from this screen if I click on SIM, the game crashes right away. If I click on view, we get to the start of the game when players skate around, but then crash to desktop. I am quite confused about this issue.

I've uploaded my league files again under the same name "Sim Hockey World Test.lg.zip".

Tested some more. I believe the problem lies in AI does not dress goalies...... it may seem the lines are correct, but if I press AI set up organization, goalies are always removed for some reason.

Can you upload that save (instructions here)? I'm not sure what the goalie thing could be, I'd like to have a look at that.

Yes, the league files are on FTP. I've re-uploaded it:

ftp://ootpsupport.com/incoming/fhm/s...%20Test.lg.zip

Please note that my original league was imported from FHM7. It is a custom game that only has NHL in it. That league works perfectly. I used FHM8's new feature to add a second league. AI does not dress goalies only for the 2nd league.

Today, I restarted another brand new in FHM8 game with very similar set up. Ran NHL for a couple of years (1960~1961) and then add the 2nd league on July 1, 1962. This time, AI sets up the lineup properly. No crash, and goalies are all dressed.

So, the problem seems to happen only for imported games. Thanks for investigating!

Weird. I can take over a team and dress goalies with no problem, but whenever I let the AI do anything in that league, it's removing the goalies from the game lineups. We'll have to dig into this a little further to see what's going on.

Found the problem, the number of goalies in the Russian league was somehow set to 0 (which shouldn't be possible.) Malte was able to fix the save for you, if you can pm me your email (or email me at jeff@ootpdevelopments.com) I can share the fixed version with you on dropbox.
