Managerial Importance

Do managers and the rest of your staff have much more of an impact on the team? For example, when Terry Francona got to Cleveland, he turned that team around very quickly. I feel like in 21, the staff did not matter as much. Do they matter more in 22?

Just bought for 5 dollars on Steam. Super excited to try it out!

i've found when i change (upgrade) managers (or things like pitching and hitting coaches) - teams do better - at least for a while. Of course, it helps to have some good players for them to work with as well. i also found when the staff is not fighting or rated poorly they door poorly- and often when the staff is "ecstatic" - the team will perform better.

Now do you notice the upgrade having more of an effect when you hire a new manager, bench coach, hitting coach, etc in 22 than in 21? I hire a coach that has a good relationship with the players and also can develop the players well, but, in 21, I do not notice a big difference when it comes to that hiring. My team still seems to not play well and players get angry easily. I am hoping it is better in 22.

Any thoughts? Thank you for your time.

I have asked about the importance of the manager in 21 and 22. I have another question: How do I find good manager that will make my team better? Managers have relationship and development ratings and they have an overall rating based on their records (great, good, average, etc).
What should I be looking for?

How do you get a good manager in either 21 or 22? Do you go by their reputation, relationship, development, etc? Same with hitting and pitching coaches. I have good, young players and I always seems to lose. I have depth at SP but I just cannot win. Can anyone help me?

Well, if you have the time and inclination, I would recommend managing your own team, and then of course you will only have yourself to blame.

What do you mean by "just cannot win"? Do you mean your team is under 500 or that it consistently finishes second in the division or makes the playoffs and gets bounced?

Are you playing historical? If so, it's my hope that the managers (and coaches) have zero effect on player's performance.

Just keep being under .500. I have had three different managers. Just cannot get my expansion team over the hump.

Not playing historical.

People have different ideas of not winning. Thanks for clarifying.

I never play fictional so I have no ideas about what to do.
