Tips for OOTP23
Hello, I've been playing OOTP for a few years now and I have always used the same strategy when playing. At times I've been successful and sometimes I've been unsuccessful. I would say it's a 50/50 when playing multiple seasons. I want to know what are your keys to success when playing? I mean with things like adjusting strategy to balanced, tactician, etc. What players do you normally look for, are there any free agent signing strategies to follow? The new tutorial system should help out too because honestly, I just went with what I normally do for the last few years now.

I would say that depending on what team you play with the game is overall challenging. If you pick the Dodgers it is easier with a stacked team and virtually unlimited budget. I like the challenge of a mid to small market team. With that you really have to develop your minor league prospects and supplement them with the right free agents.

That's a very broad question, because the game has so many elements that go into strategy and determine how your game will look. You'll find a great number of perspectives from veterans who have played many seasons with historical and fictional generated players. My recommendation two plus years in would be to pick a team or a season (or devise a fictional universe, if you're ambitious and have the time), and just start playing, learning as you go (and saving and backing up, in case things go awry, and you need a re-start). I like to take a small market, undercapitalized, losing team, tweak the financials, and figure out how to best allocate those funds (player development, free agents, contract extensions, international signings). Make whatever deals I can as GM. Then I like to take control as field manager, set lineups and a rotation, and play out individual games. I tend to keep scouting accuracy high and trading difficulty also high. I play historical seasons with real players and no color line before 1947. But the options are endless, and the variables can be tweaked, if you play as Commissioner.
