1978 Replay

I will give monthly updates to this thread. I just want in this first thread to give shoutouts to silvan and adion for the ballparks and uniforms and skyballer for the historical replay starter kit. Your hard work really increases the enjoyment of the game. I will simply spectate. Real transactions and lineups. In other words a straight historical replay.

Problem

I am having a problem with the AI allowing starting pitchers throwing too many pitches 120 to 150 range. Not correct for 1978 play.

Frankly, that sounds about correct.

Hey BradK!!!

I don't see a problem. If for whatever reason you don't want your pitchers throwing that many set their pitch count to something lower in the, what's it called, player strategy? section.

120 to 150 pitches is dead accurate. I grew up watching baseball in that era. Most starting pitchers (unless they were getting bombed or pulled for a pinch-hitter) went deep into the games.

There was 6.5 IP per GS in 1978. That is the most important value.

It has actually attenuated since those opening starts. Call it overreaction Monday on my part.
