The Mobile River Sharks: BB by the Bay

This is a story of a team who represented the city of Mobile, Alabama. They are called the River Sharks. They play in a league called the Best Baseball League, or BBL.

In June of 2020, a group of sportspeople Zoom called each other and thought about forming a new baseball league. They decided on the BBL, and in August, made 40 teams. These 40 teams played a couple of "pre-games" in September 2020 to see if the league would really work. It did work, as people across the country tuned in to watch the games.

In November of 2020, a man named John Foster was declared the BBL owner. He announced that spring training will start in February of 2021.

This is where the team's story begins.

Baseball in Mobile goes back to the year 1886. That year, there was a team named the Mobile Baseball Club. Over time, they changed to names such as the Blackbirds, Seagulls, and Bears. In 1997, the BayBears came to the Port City and stayed until 2020, when they moved to Madison.

In December 2020, Alberto Perez was named the general manager. Then, in the same meeting, they named Pat Adams the manager. They used the same roster as the 2020 pre-games.
