Rich elitist jocks

This would never have happened if the reserve clause was still in effect.

That player is spending money that rightfully belongs to the team owner! Luxury penthouses and private schools?!? Clearly the players are getting too good a deal, gonna have to revisit this at the next CBA...

I want a storyline where the players seize the means of production.

I take the OP literally and agree. With the reserve clause still in effect, the Rosado kids would attend public school. (As a proud product of public schools, albeit segregated suburban public schools - not proud of that - I would wish them well.). The team owners would be billionaires, rather than millionaires. On the other hand, a ticket might cost $25 bucks, instead of $100 bucks, without those nine-figure contracts. Taxpayers would no doubt be funding new stadiums.

I would like a storyline where the fans, not the players, seize the means of production - more Harpo Marx than Karl Marx. Actually, more OOTP than MLB.

Is it just me, or is that a totally off-the-wall storyline?

Don't think it's too likely that the owners would charge $25 a ticket if the fans would buy them at $100. Certainly that's not what the in-game AI would do, and I don't think real life organizations are eager to leave $75 on the table either.

Joe Paterno's father bargainged with the Headmaster at Brooklyn Prep to get his two sons' into the school, where Joe and brother George both excelled. Joe's father was not a wealthy man by any stretch. He also expected Joe to pursue law after graduating from Brown University.

So did Forrest Gump’s mother.

In general, families don't attend baseball games anymore. It's too expensive. The age of the average MLB fan is approaching 60, meaning he probably attended games as a child in the 1980s. It's an extinction level trend for the sport.

I dunno, I think this kid may be the next Einstein - he's already begun to cultivate his academic desires after passing multiple aptitude tests - and it's only his first day at Kindergarten.

I feel attacked by this comment. I was a child in the 80s. I'm 47.

Up yours.

Three months later, Rosado got traded to the West Coast. This business is tough on families. Given his age, my guess is he's a rental for the Long Beach Storm, his wife will stay in Brooklyn with Theodore, and after the season he'll retire.

Love this. On the issue of whether families still attend ballgames, two of my sons and I bought SRO tickets to Tuesday’s WS game (the 7-0 beatdown of the Asstros by the Phillies; thankfully not last night’s monstrosity). We found various locations in the outfield to watch the game. The tickets each cost more than my first car. Worth every penny. (Would not have said that last night!). The law of supply and demand can be brutal, totally excluding those on fixed and limited incomes. The Phillies probably could have sold 500,000 tickets. Over a million joined the WS ticket lottery.

I don't understand the logic of the last paragraph in the OP image...

At any rate, this reinforces my decision to not play using storylines...

Well, he was a committed starting pitcher to the Hound Dogs, but that commitment wasn't a two-way street. At least they sent him to a contender.
