I created a historical league set to begin in 1976. I backed up this league. Then I deleted the league. When I went to Restore the backed up leage the Restore function did not work. It allows the league to restore to be selected but then say's a target folder must be created. There is no option on the Restore screen to create the new folder. I've done this many times in the 2023 game so I know what I'm doing but the 2024 game has this bug. Thank you

He Mark000$,
There should be a target folder location and name on the backup pop-up window. It may be because of some UI issues we're working through that it's being covered by some of the UI buttons. Another user found that reviewing their display settings or properties for their computer they had a display zoom scale set to 125% instead of 100%. That's if you are a windows user. Changing that to 100% fixed the issue with the pop up not displaying the info you need. Let me know if that's the same issue here or not and i'll be happy to review your issue further. If possible could you provide a screenshot of that backup screen and i'll see what I can spot. Thanks Alex |

I sent my inquiry earlier today. I read your suggestions and checked my display zoom setting. It is 100%. I tried several times again after I read your suggestions and I still could not restore a game I previously backed up.
When I hit the Backup button the options of Backup or Rrestore show. When I hit Restore the pop up screen allows me to select the game I want to restore. Howver, after I select the game to be restored there is no option to put in the name of the game to be restored. As I noted before, I have restored games many times in OOTPB 2023 so I know how to do it. The 2024 game just does not allow it. Its got to be a bug. Thank you. Same thing happened to me
Go to font size in settings and change to standard font size. Hope this helps you.

I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro 14.
I moved my cursor to just right of where it says target folder. Even though I couldn’t see it, I typed the name for league, hit restore and it did it’s thing. I then went to load league screen and surprisingly it was there. |

Thanks for your help. It was the font size. I went into the setting on OOTPB and changed the font size to standard and existed the game as it said to do. Then got back into the game and the Restore from Backup worked. The thing is I never changed the font size to another font size in the game but it must have been set to a font size that caused the problem. But the bottom line now is Restore works if the font is set to standard. Thanks again for the suggestions and remedy!

I'm having the same problem and neither the Windows screen scale nor the OOTP font size fix worked. The game I was playing is no longer in the "continue game" slot, so I go to "load game" and effectively beat my head against a wall. I go to "Restore," which now takes me to the "existing restore folder" where I've created close to two dozen new folders that are actually the same folders just to try to open the game.
I choose one of the many target folders and for some reason I need to keep on giving it a new name. I do that and choose "restore from backup" but nothing is restored from backup. I've had to do this repeatedly over the years each time I download a new patch and for other reasons. Sometimes it works and I can resume my game and sometimes it doesn't. Really frustrating. Any suggestions? |

So if your save game no longer shows on the continue game screen or the load game we should first look at doing an autosave for your missing save. While the backup would work that requires you to have been backing up the save over time as you played the save. So if you were that's great we should have loads of backups to choose from depending on how far back we have to go to get a clean working save game. For the autosave restore you can follow the video tutorial we have. https://youtu.be/tcTERiQGrVI Now if that doesn't work we can look at doing the backup and restore option. First, we need to make sure that you have been backing up the save using our in-game backup system. There are 2 ways we can do the restoration of backups. One is to use the in-game restore system from the load game screen. That's the one you've been having issues with. Usually, you can simply click the backup you wish to restore, enter the name you'd like to give the restored backup (usually its the same name as the backup name), and then you should be able to click restore to have the game process that working backup to your saved_games folder so you can load it up as usual. Now the second way you can do this is to navigate to your backup folder directly and copy/paste the backup to your saved_games folder. That works as well and while more manual work is involved it does give you a little more control over what you're restoring and making sure it works. I'm planning on making an updated tutorial video regarding all of our autosave, backups, and restoring functions this week so be on the lookout for that. Thanks Alex |

Thanks, Alex. The method in the YouTube video didn't work for me. I've made several copies of the same game in my "saved_games" folder but none of them have any .dat files. There are no .dat files in the "auto save" folder either. The game I'm trying to load is an imported one from OOTP 23. I imported it without issue and was playing it until I downloaded and installed the patch. Now all the .dat files are gone. I went back in to the OOTP 23 folder and there are no .dat files in any of those game folders. The new game I started after the patch has .dat files but no games I began prior to the patch have .dat files. |
