Black Screen Upon Changing Pitchers

I started a new historical game in OOTP24 and when playing out maybe five games I have encountered this error twice. After I have pinch hit for my pitcher and the inning ends the game automatically takes me back to the line-up screen. On two occasions the screen goes completely black, but I can still hear the crowd noise so the game has not locked or crashed. I am just not able to access it and have to use the task bar to get out of the screen. Both times this happened I had specifically pinch hit for my pitcher.

I have sent the game file by FTP and it is called Montreal Expos.

My specs: I play the game on a PC using Windows 10, Intel i9-9900k 3.6 ghz chip, 64 GB of RAM, SSD Drive, GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics card. I have no problems running other software like Photoshop or video editors on my computer.

I'm also running into this issue in the same scenario. I'm playing a game and have pinch hit for my pitcher. When the inning ends and I would normally get the dialog telling me to replace the position player with a pitcher, my screen goes black, but I still hear the crowd noise.

I can see my cursor change as I move my mouse over the screen, so it seems like the game is still running but not rendering the UI.

It's happening every few games.

Uploading my league file now (Universal Baseball League-2023.lg.rar).

AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 gb ram, Windows 10, GeForce RTX 3060.

I had the same issue twice today while managing games in a historical save. Black screen happened at the inning break when I had pinch hit for my pitcher.

One thing that may help is if you're seeing this, if you go to main screen > settings > 3d & facegen > Open GL Mode > then select 'Use OpenGL only for 3D'

Please try that out and let us know if you still see this after that or not.

I'm playing in Modern 3D.

@Lukas - I changed that setting per your recommendation. I'm a few games in and this has yet to occur again. So far, so good.

Same here. I noticed that in the late innings when I pinch hit for my pitcher that the blank screen comes up with the splash screen notifying me to make a defensive change. I think the blank screen is normal, but the splash screen was not coming up.

As mentioned, if you make sure you're using those openGL settings Lukas mentioned, and updated to 24.1.39 (the release version), hopefully for the moment you should not get these blank screen issues. We're still investigating the issues.

For anyone having these issues, we've made a build that will hopefully fix the black screens and crashing when pinch-hitting for a pitcher or switching to or from 2d modes.

If you're on Steam, you can access this by doing the following:

Joining the OOTP 24 beta

Open Steam client -> Library
Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 24
Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
Click on the beta tab.
Open the beta pull-down and select "beta". The password is ootp24betapt
Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
Open the client again. It should then download the beta build if there is one

If you're on the standalone/Fastspring version then please download and install the patch from any of the following links:

Mac:
https://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.co...4Installer.dmg

Please let us know if this fixes the crashing issues for you (and also runs smoothly otherwise). We'd like to release this as a hotfix asap but need a few more eyes on this first to make sure things are properly fixed. Thanks
