Random questions from a new player
1- Is it possible to set yourself as owner, run the team a la Connie Mack?
2- Do teams get sold? Do owners ever inject cash into a teams budget? 3- How does a pitchers hold rating affect stealing? Does it affect the runner's decision to go or his chances for success? Or both? 4- Does the first base coach affect baserunning? 5- It seems like outfielders always try to throw out a leading runner on a hit, often allowing the trailing runner to advance a base. There are situations where It's more important to keep the trailing runner from advancing. Is there a way to set a strategy for this? 6- I have bullpen use selected but the AI never uses the bullpen. Is this normal? 7- Fielding experience. What does the number have to get to for the player to have a rating at the position? When the experience reaches 200 is the players defensive rating set or can it still improve? Can a players defensive rating get lower due to not playing the position? That's all I have for now. I'm sure I'll have many more questions in the future. Any help is appreciated. |

Since no one else has answered I’ll give it a go. Be aware that I play with finances off so my answers there will be guesses.
1. Owner-no. Can play as GM-you have a lot of control.. 2. Never seen a team get sold but owners sometimes die. A son usually takes over. I think owners sometimes inject cash but that is a guess. 3. Hold rating definitely affects stealing along with catcher’s rating. Based on my experience, yes to both. 4. I don’t play with coaches so don’t know. I let AI control it. 5. Don’t know off hand if there is a strategy setting unless there is one to be less aggressive on base path. 6. Strange unless you are playing dead ball era. I usually play 1960-1970 s and AI puts in a reliever about 75% of the time. Sounds like a setting, maybe under stats and AI, might be off. 7. Not sure. Pretty sure rating can improve even with experience at 200. Can players defensive rating get worse if they don’t play the position for awhile-I don’t recall ever seeing that happen. Hope that helps some. |

I just finished a season and had 2 owners sell their teams"
Will Kasik turned over the keys to the Milwaukee Brewers this afternoon to Brett Hatcher in a brief ceremony outside American Family Field. Brett Hatcher wasted no time trying to put his mark on the team. "I've made a lot of money building things that no one thought would work. I've got a track record. Some people don't like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster," he said. "Great teams are built with great players. We're gonna go get them." Hatcher is said to be a tolerant character, with a fiscal personality of controlling. The Brewers finished the regular season with a 69-93 record, 5th place in the National Premier Baseball League West Division. ****************************** "All my life I've dreamed of having my own baseball team, and now that dream has come true." Those were the words of the brand-new owner of the New York Yankees, Shamar Thomason, who today was introduced at a media gathering at Yankee Stadium. Thomason is a wealthy real estate mogul who recently purchased the team from Jelani Curtis. He promised New York Yankees fans that he would put forth a first-class product on the field. Candidly assessing his own personal temperament and management style, Thomason told reporters, "I'm economizer with my money and I'm quite lenient in working with people. I expect success -- that's the bottom line with me." New York finished third this past season in the First Division with a team record of 87-75. |
