Could not create game folder
Hello! I am running the game through Steam. (Just realized this is in the wrong forum. I'm sorry, but I can't seem to find a way to delete it.)
My game had been running perfectly until the other day (6th). I logged on and got an invalid database error. I could not open any of my saves. I re-installed the game and the saves were visible but now were black instead of white and would only begin to load before crashing. I deleted all files related to FHM on the computer and re-installed. This time I am getting the Could not create game folder anytime I attempt to create a new game. The game has been deleted and re-installed 4 times now. I have ensured Steam is running in administrator mode. Ive made sure FHM exe file is running in admin. I have attempted to change the custom data path (im on a laptop with only one HD so no chance of choosing another HD). I've turned off my anti-virus (windows defender) and had made sure the controlled folder access is off. I've run FHM annually on this laptop since FHM 7 with no issues and all was fine until the 6th. Sorry to bother and thank you for your time. Last edited by Scotian; 01-08-2024 at 06:37 PM. Reason: Typo and wrong Forum. So Sorry. |

I had a similar problem.
My thread is a bit further down. For some reason Steam/FHM somehow was looking in a different folder than it was previously. I never found out why. I copied my lg files to the new folder where it was looking for. Everything is now ok. I don't know if it's the same problem as what you're having. |

Sounds like you've checked most of the usual causes; the most likely one that remains is a storage problem. How much space is remaining on that drive? If there's still a lot, it might be a good idea to run some diagnostics on the drive (check your drive manufacturer's website for a tool, or HDDScan is a good freeware one) and make sure it isn't developing a problem - all of your saves suddenly getting corrupted at once is a bit alarming.

Was this resolved? I'm having the same issues not able to start new game because it can't create the game folder. What is the fix? I have plenty of storage and no drive errors. All other games working without issue???

If it can't create the game folder, it may be a Windows User Account Control that's not letting you write to the save folder. Try starting the game in Administrator Mode by right-clicking on the desktop link and choosing "Run as Administrator", or, if you're on Steam, exit the Steam client and restart it using Run as Administrator. That should give you the proper rights to write to the game's save folder.
