Teams Don't Draft Pitchers Early
Hey so I know with release date this is an odd time to post this, but I did notice this issue carry over from OOTP 24 into the beta build as well.
Teams do not prioritize drafting pitchers in the draft. In fact, it's very rare to see a pitcher drafted in the first ten picks which is very far off from what happens in real-life. It took the immersion away from me last year because I knew I could just draft pitchers early and stack my farm system, as it was normal for the best pitcher in the draft to still be available towards the end of the first round every year. |

I think I may be seeing this in historical games but I need to play more to be certain.
I noticed earlier in beta that pitcher FIP and SIERA estimates were always significantly higher than what they should be. I wonder if that is causing the computer to see all pitchers as less valuable in the draft. |

I've tried it with a multitude of leagues, I've done a regular MLB League and then both two fictional leagues (one with automated drafts and another with a feeder league) The settings for each are pretty standard. Once in a blue moon you might get a pitcher drafted towards the top (though its rare) and its more common for a pitcher to not even be drafted at all in the first round. |

I imported a league from v24 to v25, and in my first rookie draft, the teams did not start picking starters till like round 3 and 4. Whereas in the v24 league (same set up, same league), the starters usually went in the first round, much to my surprise (and they did this consistently for 30 seasons, approx 1973 to 2005)). This is a historical league with development on, no recalc, and drafting rookie from random years. The only other difference is that I moved the draft from late December to late June for the v25 league. Would that move alone cause an extreme disinterest in top starters? Or is it something due to the change from v24 to v25? |

I just ran a quick test and in the 1983 draft Maddux went first overall. Default/no changes, dev on, historical settings.

We're looking into some things with how pitchers are affected by importing in certain leagues. We should be able to make some improvements here before long.

I'm seeing this, but it's because the drafts have a lot less high end talent. A large ratio of that talent is high school pitchers and they fall way later in the draft (rightly!). I don't know how I feel about the lack of draft value yet, but I've seen the pitcher effect a few times now.
