Expansion Team Selection

Not something that's a big deal - takes a little more manual effort - but noticing a pattern.

When expanding a professional league in North America, I am getting about 6 cities being cycled over and over. Despite there being thousands of options available in Canada or the USA, I keep getting Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Brooklyn (different from NY apparently), San Antonio, LA and Phoenix.

Every single time. Would be nice to at least get some cities that don't already have a franchise?

Yes, I'd rather have some town I've never heard of in Alabama than seeing Brooklyn over and over.

I literally just tried again. Over 20 times. Select expansion and see those exact cities. Every single time.

I accidentally left random expansion on and Washington left for Jacksonville ...

I used to see Columbus, OH a lot in previous versions. It seemed Jacksonville and Charlotte were popular too.

Fictional league, four expansions have been to Boston, Sacramento, Columbus, and Oklahoma City.

Two relocations, Houston and San Jose.

I think it is important to remember that from a realistic standpoint market size is vital. While it might be interesting to put a team in Topeka, it requires the suspension of belief that I can’t accept. There are really only, maybe 20 markets able to support a MLB team. It might be interesting to put a team in a foreign city.

I expanded on last year's release and created the Cancun Cervezas. Great fan interest, etc. and it was fun being the only Mexican team.

I just recently expanded my first save in 25. Expansion teams were El Paso and Indianapolis.

Generally, the only way I play, and I use the Montreal Expos, and for this current save I'm on, Las Vegas. I moved the minor league facility to another city in Nevada. I've also used Mexico City and Salt Lake City. And in the past, and just for kicks, I've used my hometown of Savannah.

A Las Vegas team would be fun. Just hope you gave them a stadium wiht a dome. What did you name them?

Las Vegas Blackjacks?
Outlaws?
Vandals?
High Rollers?
Hookers? (I kid, I kid)

I've never personally seen the game expand to a city with an existing team.
Charlotte, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Jacksonville (FL) are the ones I've seen most. Sacramento, Albuquerque, and El Paso as well.
