Random Debut ages

If you look at a players age, you will more often than not notice that the age shown does not match up to real life. Lots of players debut a year or even 2 years younger than they did in real life. Has anyone ever figured out how the age matches up to real stats? Not a huge deal, I'm just curious. In my current league Wilbur Wood debuted at age 18. In real life he debuted at age 19, so in this case I think it's one year off younger. But, I swear I've seen some guys that are 2 years off.

When is the draft? Mid-season or after season? Also careful looking at BBR age columns as they use a July date I think or some for-everyone same date there. It’s buried in their fine print. OOTP age though is surely as of that day in the sim.

Draft is default date set by OOTP, so I think it's late November or early December. I never mess with draft dates.

He debuted with BOS in 1961 at 19 but he was drafted at the age of 18 and played in the minors at the age of 18 so that is probably where the discrepancy is coming from. I have noticed this on a lot of players but then when I check BBR I see that they were actually drafted at 17, 18, or 19. So I think OOTP pulls from the time they were actually drafted to when they played their first MLB game.

Ah, didn't think about that.

I have notice the same thing playing random. When looking at their ootp stat page vs their real life stat page in ootp- about 90% of the time their stat ages are the same but about 10 % of the time thet are off by about a year. BBR uses their age on June 30 to determine their baseball age. I haven’t figured out what OOTP uses to determine their stat age.
It is frustrating to see a player that is having a good year in ootp so you look to see how he did IRL but it is hard to figure out which year ootp is using because the ages don’t match up.
