Bug with Owner Goal of resigning player

I was playing the Los Angeles Kings 88-89 challenge as GM/HC.

During the preseason I re-signed Steve Duchesne to an extension. Midway through the season, I was given an owner goal to re-sign him. When we arrived at 6/29, I was told I failed the goal and my job security reduced. But he was already signed to an extension when the goal was given?

Same here, failed a goal for not re-signing a player when he has an extension. I wasn't paying attention to the goals so maybe the goal happened after I'd already extended him? not sure.

Yeah I got this bug too when they asked me to re-sign Mikko Rantanen. I did that and I still failed the owner goal.

I also experienced this with Filip Gustavsson, asked me to resign which I did and still failed the goal. The owner goals are kind of a big drawback right now, like asking to sign a guy with chemistry when none of them actually have good enough attributes to be in the NHL so I've had to sign them and then send them down. Detracts from the immersion factor.

Agreed, I'm basically failing them every year because they don't make sense most of the time. Acquiring player with chemistry, draft a player from local town, improve team attendance (how? other than wins, i guess lower ticket prices?). These have turned out to be more nuisances than immersion.

I think having simpler goals would work a lot better. Make playoffs, get more wins than last year, win the cup (when your team is a contender), and then very very occasionally have these more odd goals like acquire a player with chemistry / local kid.

Just to clarify: have any of you seen the re-signing goal fail to complete when the player was *not* already extended? Giving that goal for players who've already been extended is a bug and we'll get that fixed, but I want to make sure there's not a second issue with it as well.

I'll keep an eye out next time. I do try to extend my players as soon as they're eligible on July 1st –*I'm not sure when owner goals are made, but if it's later in the offseason, then perhaps that's why.

I resigned a guy after getting the goal and still failed the goal. Also this has happened everytime I get the goal. I have even waited different amounts of time after getting the goal before re-signing and that still leads to failure.

OK, thanks. We think we've found the problem and are testing a fix for the next update (the issue with getting this goal when a player has already been renewed is fixed as well.)

I was given the goal to re-sign one of my star players. I have about 5 or 6 of them... it didn't mention who to re-sign... I re-signed one of them at the end of the year and I still got the mention as my goal was not accomplished (it them mentionned a particular player - but he was never mentionned to begin with...)

Also I had another goal to hire a scout from a particular region of France (i'm playing the French league)... so I went ahead and signed a scout exactly from the requested region.... still got a FAIL on that goal, also...
