As a Ducks Fan...
Why are the Ducks so good in the game this year??? Playing as the Ducks, simming the games, and having made no roster moves, Anaheim is first place in the west (second overall) on Dec 14 with 42 points in 28 GP. This is largely due to Dostal becoming the best goalie in hockey (1.56 GAA, .943 Sv%, 7 Shutouts, and 21.72 GSAA), with most of the rest of the team playing about as expected. Why is Dostal so good as a 2 ability goalie??
More seriously: is there a bias for the player's team succeeding in the game? Not to be conspiratorial, but it feels like last year and this year so far whichever team I picked to manage did significantly better than if they were being run by the AI. Has anyone else noticed something like this? |

Keep in mind that chance plays a big factor in this game (FHM and in real hockey). Lots of different scenarios are possible. For example, in my simulation of the current season (I keep pace in real time, so I'm now at the beginning of November), Anaheim is tied for last in the Pacific Division (just 3 wins) and Dostal has a goals against average of 4.07 and a save percentage of .888. I just let the simulation run with no interference from me.
