That's an interesting one and it would be hard to determine a true winner in this trade, but I'd maybe give a slight edge to Chicago because elite right handed dmen are very, very rare.

Agreed. I can think of a half dozen forwards who will still be as good / better than bedard in 2030.

But how many D are currently better than Makar? I'd say none. And only one other in history.

Unless you count his 7 million years in the defunct USSR, Fetisov has absolutely no business being in this kind of conversation.

By the time Makar retires, he will probably be at the same level as Park, and above Chelios (Chelios was elite in his prime, but his longevity skews the overall evaluation of the player). Will probably fall short of Robinson, Lidstrom, Potvin and Coffey, but not by much.

Unless something happens (like major injuries), Makar has all the tools to be top 10 all time. Might not make it, but he sure has the tools.
