Do you still play OOTP 6.5 or any earlier versions of OOTP today?

With Markus' announcement, I have started doing some research on the history of the game for some upcoming YT videos about OOTP. I know for a long time there were some die hard OOTP 6.5 enthusiasts who were still playing that version despite the rewrite in 2006. With all the major enhancements over the last 20 years, is there still anyone possibly still playing one of the legacy, pre-Sports Interactive versions of the the game anymore? If so, let me know in this poll and comment on what kind of game your still playing.

I'm sure there are people out there that do. I still play the Legend of Zelda on my NES from time to time, just for kicks.

I think what the OOTP community really needs is a yearly convention. A place where we can all meet yearly in person or virtually to share our enthusiasm for OOTP.

For many years I kept earlier versions on an old laptop that I would fire up occasionally, but that laptop eventually stopped working. The most current version I play is v23, though I am thinking enough has changed over the last few years that I will make the jump to v26 in the Spring.

So far between here and Reddit we've identified at least 3 still playing 6.5!

I also boot up and play old sega, NES and N64 games often. I love Triple Play baseball a lot for playing with friends back in the day. It still holds up today no less!

I was lucky to have met most of the OOTP team (save for Markus unfortunately) back in 2013 when they had they're annual post launch in-person meeting in NYC. There were about 12 other OOTP fans there as well. It was fun. Future meetups would be great. Just hard because people are so scattered.

I wish I could but I'd miss all the extra things added since 15 or so.

No I don't play older versions. I had to vote for v20+ as there was no "current edition only" option.

For me each version in it's year of release was a great game and the "best available", but with that said, it became a building block for the next version. That next version then became the best available and there was no reason to play last years version, let alone any older ones.

OOTP 6.5 was the best, and I would still play it, but unfortunately I haven't been able to track down the MLB rosters for that version. They appear to have vanished into the ether.

Ootp 6.54 was the best for that time.
There is so much more in ootp 25 that 6.5 wouldn't be as enjoyable as it was back then.
Its like a model T and any modern car.
Sure a Model T looks nice as a collectible but i sure wouldn't want to take it for a road trip.
You would have to modernize it and that might take away its charm as a collectible.

I only came around here for v12, but my Raccoons are still in v16 and will remain there until the day I die.

I chose the bottom option in the poll, even though it's unclear what it actually means. Earlier than what? 6.5 or 20? I assumed earlier than v20 (mentioned above).

21 was the best version for me.

I still have 6.5 on my work laptop because the current game gets too big for the hard drive. I have a designated game laptop for OOTP.

I have ITP on a Windows 11 laptop. I wanted to change team cities and the date to 2024 so I downloaded OOTP 5.
I could not get it to work.

I thought I would also try OOTP 6.5 and I also could not get that to work no matter what compatibility settings I choose.

That was my question, do they run fine? I have Steam versions back to 9. While it's a really fun novelty to see the screens and changes, I'm going to buy each new year. If nothing else, I'd be part of the problem buying a roster update to keep the game alive. Luckily it's not like that. I do think 23 was particularly strong engine wise, but it could be subjective.

Runs fine on my Windows 11 work laptop. I don't know about ITP. I lost my license number for that a long time ago.
