Drafted and Released on the Same Day

I just found a guy who was released on the same day that he was selected in the entry draft. This probably shouldn't happen, especially with a 8th round high schooler

Just to more accurately describe the timeline than the thread title...

- Drafted on 7/11
- Signed on 7/21
- Released on 7/22

Still weird, but that is probably a more helpful description for anyone who might be able to investigate.

The other oddity, IMO, is that he signed a "minor league contract with majors option". I'd guess that type of contract maybe played a role?

He was drafted by the Orioles on 7/11, then released by the Orioles on 7/11. He then signed with the Boise Hawks of the independent Pioneer League on 7/21, who then cut him the next day. I'm not too worried about the independent sign and release, as that has been something that has happened in OOTP for years, but I haven't seen the immediate release after the draft before.

I found another guy in this save that it has happened too that hasn't signed with anyone afterwards to make the issue a little clearer.

Ah, yes, I see that now...although I think that Indy sign & release is odd also.

If you have Indy leagues you have some kind of custom set up though so I'd be curious about things like how many minor leagues you have and what your minor league roster rules are, particularly at the lowest level.

It is generally better to give the AI a little bit of roster leeway to prevent sign & release type of things.

I have the base minor league settings that are in the game. There aren't any age limits or roster size limits, but there are limits on pro service time for some leagues. The Independent leagues are just from the MLB Partner Leagues option you get when starting a new game. They should all have the base settings that come with the game.

I also think the indy ball sign and release is weird, but it's been happening for the last few games so I'm used to it at this point.
