Historic Minor League Affiliates

So I've been playing the California Golden Seals in historic mode, keeping them alive well after their relocation and subsequent folding. So my NHL has had 22 teams post-WHA merger rather than 21.

Just flipped to the 1984-1985 season, wherein the Central Hockey League, where my minor league affiliate played, folded, and now I just don't have a minor league affiliate. All the players are still listed on the roster for that team, but I can't access that team unless I specifically search for one of those players. "Independent Team" is listed as my minor league affiliate, with no players.

The structure in historic minor leagues isn't editable, so I don't seem to be able to add a new team to the AHL, nor select one of the currently existing teams (even teams who do have minor league affiliates don't have them listed on their edit page). Is there any solution to this, or am I permanently screwed out of having a minor league affiliate?
