2000s Week is Next Week (Aug. 18-24)!

Hello, everyone! Exciting news coming up - there will be a theme week in Perfect Team 26 leagues the week of Aug. 18-24!

2000s Week is coming next week!

League play next week will be in 2004, a year where a lot of exciting things happened! (List via Paul Sporer)
  • Vlad Sr. & Bonds were MVPs... we'll work around Bonds, can't just avoid his years altogether, though, or else half of the 2000s would be off limits
  • Johan & Rocket won the CYs
  • Bobby Crosby & Jason Bay won the ROYs
  • Adrian Beltre led baseball w/48 HRs, highlighting an amazing walk yr
  • Ichiro hit an incredible .372 this yr, but of course that card is already out w/his Immortal Seasons offering
  • Scotty Pods swiped an MLB-high 70 bases w/Carl Crawford close behind at 59... no one else topped 45
  • The Cards had 3 of the top 6 FanGraphs WAR totals (Rolen 3rd, Edmonds 5th, and Pujols 6th)
  • Randy Johnson had a 10 WAR season but lost what probably should've been his 6th CY to Clemens (6 WAR)
  • 42 pitchers reached 200 IP; 4 reached that mark last yr
  • Jake Peavy had a sparkling 2.27 ERA but his season was cut short to injury w/just 166 IP
  • Livan Hernandez led the lg w/9 Complete Games; he & the next 4 guys (5 each) totaled 29 CGs that year... there were 28 IN BASEBALL last yr
  • Mariano Rivera had 53 SVs and 9 others eclipsed 40 (2 hit 40 last yr)
Not all of these players mentioned are guaranteed next week, but the 2000s take center stage for T4, Clubhouse, and TWIPT with a special focus on '04! Stay tuned next week!

Run environment info for 2004 compared to regular league play environment (2010) is here as well:

Pretty soon the Players' Association will be lobbying to give starting pitchers a win for lasting 3 innings. "C'mon, he pitched more than any of the six relievers you used tonight. He deserves a W!"

What does it mean to "work around" Bonds? It kinda sounds like there's not going to be a Bonds card. I'm hoping there is. I mean, you've already got Clemens, A-Rod, Sosa, McGwire, Ramirez, two Cansecos, two Caminitis, two Palmeiros. I don't get why there's any kind of disclaimer for Bonds.

Well, I'm glad you ask, because this week has a bit of an addition to what our normal release schedule is (major content on Thursdays of every week):

Today – PTMS Rewards Unveiling – Find out where the other names behind Brown & Kemp slot in the prize package that now includes 3 prizes just for making it!

Tuesday – Tuesday Tournament Treasure Trove (T4) – A collection of Gold and lower cards from 2004.

Wednesday – Clubhouse Update – Cards-only update featuring 2000s players with special focus on 2004.

Thursday – TWIPT – Cards from Perfect through Iron celebrating the 2004 season with a few others from the 2000s mixed in.

Additionally look for LEs, Historical Future Legends, and other assorted hot drops during the week!
