What was changed from the default settings? Or changed in the default team settings? What year are you in? Loaded through the Historical Game Wizard?

I previously played ootp21, have now purchased ootp26. Never had this problem in 21. Have tried numerous settings under the historical and fictional games options. Nothing is helping, seems like assigning players manually is the only option. It must be a bug of some kind.

Start a Historical Game and in Step 2 of the Wizard, upper right, see the setting for "Rookie Draft" (going direct to teams is the default for a default Historical game).

Those players were not in pro ball in 1962. What is the date in the sim? Opening day 1962?

They come in off season October 62. I am starting the sim as 62 Mets, March 1962. After completing the 62 season, almost all rookies , not Cleon Jones, come in as free agents.

Are the minor league teams they are supposed to go to in the game? Free Agency would result when the MiLB stat line can’t find the team in the MiLB teams csv file. That’d be my first guess anyway - if the team is there and not receiving the player, could also be a field in the csv file. Trying to determine if it is database related cs something else. Thx

As with ootp21 most of the minor league teams change their geographical location. But are still in the roster screen. I have always done my historical games with full minors with ghost players.

I ran a test and can confirm the players discussed in this thread do not seem to be getting automatically added to the teams as expected.

Looking at their "real" minor league stats that show in the game, they seem to all have the correct team and abbreviation assigned that match the OOTP minor league teams so not sure what the issue would be.

This is before the real life draft, so not sure how to get a list of professional debuts that year to test and see how widespread it is but something is going on at least as the game rolls over from 1962 to 1963.

Stupid question, but is it only the players mentioned, Selma and Harrelson, or are all the new arrivals across the board coming in as free agents?

All but Cleon Jones for the Mets. There are 100's who are coming in as FA's.
Reggie Smith, Tony C, Rudy May , Jay Johnstone to name a few. It doesn't matter what year or team that I try to play. OOTP21 I didn't have this problem. Game is historical and set at default. I only play historical games, so it is sucking the life out of me.

Oh man, that would drive me nuts as well. Have you posted about this in the bug forum?
