Patch installation failed
Received an error message today when updating my game client with the newest patch.
Path installation failed: Could not open zip file D:\OOTP\OOTP26\default_data\facegen_photofit_files .zip not sure what is causing this. I recently bought a new computer and after finding my license key, I went to download this patch to get the most recent game version on this new computer. |

Given its a new computer, it may be the first time the anti-virus software is seeing the game. Try turning it off for the download and then back on. Or whitelist OOTP. Just a guess. Also, I assume this was during the download and not the installation attempt of a fully downloaded .exe file.

The .exe downloaded just fine from fast spring. This was an error box that popped up at the end of thr install. I'll attempt the white list suggestion though.

ootp is fully allowed on my firewall. so that wasn't a causation.

even with this error message, I was still able to access my game file last night. but today when I clicked on the desktop shortcut it went through the whole "installing game data" process again... not sure why it repeated that whole update all over again.
Once that install update was finished this is the error box, which I reported in my first post. I clicked on OK and the game force closed |

I searched old threads for something similar to that error and came up empty handed. It’s just the Windows version saved to a custom path? And first time OOTP has been on that computer so never been installed on another part of that computer? This will sound silly but maybe redownload it and see if some bit was missing from the exe on the first go.

Ootp isn't installed directly on this pc. It's installed on a portable hard drive, which is how I accessed 25 and 26 on my previous pc. I had no problem opening up 25 from that hard drive this morning on the new pc.

I downloaded the newest .exe from the updated patch and installed it. The error message no longer showed up and all seems to be working as normal. so my assumption is something in the first .exe download got corrupted
