So far this year in the WTL - players who are going to be FA's have made requests for 'X' amount of dollars - whenoffered that amount they then say - either i want 'x=y' amount or if its the second offer from owner they say 'this isnt going anywhere - i'llplay somewhere else next year'.....
its been an epidemic - is there a bug or something - i've made all the updates, patches etc., didnt happen last year --- what gives - my owners are quite 'perturbed' and i'm going crazy listening to their moans ! any thoughts ??

No, issues of this sort. I know that if I WANT to keep a player I normally will go above his asking price just to be safe. Tell your owner's to stop "low-balling" the players

Well that was my thought -
but on several occasions they did offer the player what they were asking - and the player told them to 'read between the lines', or something to the effect of 'this is going nowhere , i'll play in hell first before ever playing for you again. so it seems like they've been quick to bail...but i did tell them not to be tryin to play cheap on their players....

I actually have seen this more with the latest patches.. both in online leagues, my solo leagues and on the forums from other owners.. I think there is some instance that a player asks for X and even if it is offered, they turn you down. Does not happen all the time or often from what I can see, but when it does, it tends to piss people off...

There are occassions that a player asks for a specific amount and turns you down if you offer it. In these cases, you can up your offer by about $50K or so and the player will accept. I always assumed it was a rounding issue with the game engine.

Era related?
I thought it may be something to do with the switch in time period we went through?
I dunno, my guys seem to be pretty happy playing for me . . . 29 year-old Al Simmons wanted $11,690,000 for a two year extension (a lot, yeah, but he was already making $11,685,000, so it wasn't a big raise) . . . first offer I sent him was what he wanted ($11.69 million) but I offered 4 years . . . he snapped it up. Probably just jinxed myself though - SP George Earnshaw says he wants $2.8 mil for 3 years . . . maybe I'll offer him $2.85. Rube Walberg says he'll probably test the market, but to make an offer anyway . . . never like it when they say that to start negotiations.

Re: Era related?
Agree with Sporr... in my last negotiations (for QBA), I would make my 1st offer lower than what they asked, but my 2nd offer was always for slightly more than they asked... So a guy says 3 yrs at 2.19 Million, I might offer him 1.75 with the first offer, but my 2nd offer would either be 2.2 or usually more like 2.25 Some would accept the first but everyone at least accepted the 2nd and I didn't get bit by offering exactly what he wanted and getting turned down and losing him.
