You lost me there. Anyway, lets see if I can help you out.
Have you tried clicking directly on the .exe file instead of the icon?
Have you tried running the game in 98-compatible mode?
Which OS are you running at home?

Have you tried running the program by selecting the OOTP5.exe through windows expolorer?

Have you tried to reinstall?

I have tried the OOTP5.exe.. as well as trying to reinstall..nothing

I have downloaded the complete setup twice...
the 2nd time .. i installed it on my home computer also..and it works fine...

I am sure its not a problem with the file.....
any possible software conflicts?

Complete guess, probably incorrect, but...

Could it be some sort of conflict with the user profiles on the machine? (Perhaps the user profile you are logged in as can't connect or run the .exe for some reason)

This won't be a surprise to most...

I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to try.

I personally have no idea, however some people think that because a game "meets or exceeds the minimum requirements or is a new system" then all games should work. This just isn't the case, there are SO many factors to take into consideration that it would be impossible to get a program to run on every system. I am not posting this here as an excuse, but just as something that I feel folks misunderstand.

Markus does know about this issue and I will be sending him more info about it today, but currently I do not know.

I am unsure what my graphic acceleration is .. 32 bit.. is what the card is if that is what you are referring to.

I just updated my NVIDIA GE Force MX/MX 400 driver.
I am totally lost here.

Screen>Advanced Settings>Hardware Acceleration (within the NVIDIA it may be something like Troubleshooting or else). There you have the acceleration. Check it out, maybe lowering it could help you out.

Just brain-storming...

IIRC, the only time I had this happen was when I didn't have the updated directx... Just wondering if there is a problem with your instance of directx... is it possible to reinstall dx 9.0?
