OS: Windows XP
Processor: Athlon 1.333ghz RAM: 256 SDRAM Hi, just reloaded OOTP3 on to my computer and am looking forward to playing. It works great, btw. However, after redoing my license, I found I couldn't access the internet anymore. "That's strange," I thought. So after messing around and doing the usual reboot and the like, I shut down ZoneAlarm (my s/w firewall) and I get right through to the internet. So immediately after registering OOTP3, the problem started. I look in ZoneAlarm and don't recognize anything from OOTP3 except for OOTP3.exe, which I immediately give full access to through my firewall. But that doesn't fix the problem. I then look at the processes running in the TaskManager I see the the following. Runservice.exe (system) taking 1.2mb of RAM SERVICES.exe (system) taking 2.6mb of RAM SVCHOST.EXE (system taking up 3.2mb, 14.9MB, 2.7mb, and 3.2mb of RAM in 4 different instances. (two system, one network service, and one local service). Total RAM hog---> 27.8MB of RAM... What in the hell is all this stuff and why is it sucking up my RAM. It wasn't there prior to OOTP3. I want it gone, first of all. And second of all, has anyone seen this and know how I can get my firewall working again? Thanks in advance. I apologize for this being my first post at these forums. |

It sounds like you are having network and/or system issues. The programs SERVICES.EXE and SVCHOST.EXE are not related to OOTP3, so you may want to do a search on these progs and see what tech sites suggest. Good luck!

Just for the record, I fixed the problem of not getting to the internet. What I did, I have no idea because in my frustration I went into "click-fest" mode and sadly I cannot tell you what I did that was good.
I'm enjoying the hell out of OOTP3 btw, it's a great sim. I wouldn't mind the interface being cleaned up a little in OOTP4, but this game is so indepth, it's beautiful! |

Killebrew,
Thanks for taking the time to post those links. I will investigate those to see how they ended up on my machine. In the archived forums, I read something about eLicense using those so maybe that is a starting point. |
