Rule V draft eligible after their first year player draft
I've read there are some "issues" with rule V draft eligibility. I haven't been able to locate the thread so I'm posting this one just in case it's not part of the "issue." I am running the trial version (which I'm guessing means patched version.) I just finished my first year player draft and several of the older prospects that I drafted are marked as eligible for the rule V draft.

TwinMonster,
I'm sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this thread. ![]() I've been trying to replicate this issue in the latest version of the game, without any luck. Have you run across this again? Thanks, Steve |

Draft Picks Rule V Eligible
I'm playing a patched game, using the Lahman Database which I started in the 2005 season. I did the ammy draft in June and then played a few days ahead and went back to check my 1st round pick -- a pitcher that went straight to AA to see how he did in his first start. As I was clicking around his player card I noticed in the "Contract & Status" tab that the player was Rule V eligible, and his time as a pro was listed as 4 years and 3 days.
My universe is set up as MLB, AAA, AA, A, and Short A, and there are no other leagues foreign or domestic that he could have come from. I drafted him out of college, so unless the AI is saying the "gifts" he received from alumni made him a pro, he should really only have 3 days of professional service. I also randomly checked 10-15 of my other draft picks (draft was 50 rounds) and didn't find any others on my team with that problem. Then I checked 4-5 picks from other teams and noticed that some players (maybe 15 or so out of about 150 random checks) were also credited with 1-3 years of pro service when they had all just been drafted 3 days ago. I will say that all of the players who had that problem were in AA or A ball, and not one player in Short A (that I saw) was given service time. I had originally posted this in general discussions to see if anybody else has noticed this, and was encouraged by other members to post here as well. |

Steve, due to the expiration of my trial version, I can't access the game any more. This was with the first of the patches. Once the trial extension thing is fixed, I'll try running the player draft again and see if I end up with Rule V eligible players again.

Oh, looky, Markus has already claimed to have fixed this for the next patch. Not verified yet though...
