Need procedure to uninstall and reinstall game

I have a problem with my leagues...apparently caused by my computer and not by the game.

I have decided to uninstall the game, download it again, and reinstall it to see if that will fix the problem.

What are the proper steps to do this...to make sure that I will still have two licenses?

I did a search, but did not get a clear understanding of the process.

Do I unlicense the game first...then uninstall the game...and then download the game again?

At what point do relicense the game?

I know how to unlicense it. I just need to know if I have to go back to the same place and relicense it...and at what point in the procedure do I need to do it.

Keep in mind, I am not very computer literate. Don't leave much to my computer intuitiveness.

I hope I have made my needs clear.

I just did a search on the Forum and this is what I found...it was written by Andreas of the OOTPB Development Team :

I need to re-install the software, what should I do about my license?

The eLicense obtained and installed by your Order ID is independent of the software itself. Once you have a license, you can uninstall, re-install, etc. without any effect on the license.

This seems to say that I don't have to unlicense it. I just have to uninstall and download again.

Is this true?

Yes. Uninstall the game via the Add/Remove Programs control panel.

Then re-install the game.

Thanks, eriqjaffe.

I'll get busy and start my universe over again.

This is correct. You can also back up your saved_games folder prior to uninstalling. Then move those files back after the reinstall, and you won't have to recreate anything you don't want to!

(You do back up your leagues regularly, don't you Eugene?)

Yeah, I back up ad nauseum.

I just can't get a league to work properly...none of them.

I reinstalled the game, ran the MAL league set up by the game as test league and everything went fine...post season stats were accumulated correctly and the schedule screen had the HRs listed for both regular season and post season.....pitchers' ERAs and Won-Lost record were correct.

BUT.....when I created my league...the same thing happened with the post season stats...the game doesn't accumulate them in the boxscores and HRs are not shown on the League Schedule screen...just "HR- NONE"...no ERAs and W-L records for pitchers...they were all 0.00 and 0-0.

All I have is two subleagues with 5 divisions each, 6 teams in each division.

No minors...no financials...just a simple league.

Why in the world do I get this problem?

Hope someone can help figure this out.

I just don't want to play the game with the stats messed up this way...I know it may not be a big deal...but I like them to be right.

Suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I keep my e-license numbers physically written down in a safe place, which makes re-installing a little easier.

As for you league set-up, boy do I wish I could help. I've been reading your posts, and frankly, I feel your pain. I just play the MAL league (although I've re-named it MLB so that I don't get all misty and try starting yet another "Where's Malleus Dei?" thread) and away I go. I realize it's not your way.

Thanks for helping me suffer.

Yes, it is quite frustrating, but there is no sense in ranting and raving and blaming the game and acting like a spoiled brat, the way we sometimes do.

Sometimes we meet the enemy and they are us.

I just created a league and basically used the default settings.

I did set up the structure the way I wanted...2 subleagues...5 divisions with 6 teams in each.

ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM THIS TIME !!!

This seems to indicate the problem is caused, when I change some of the default settings. My mixture doesn't seem to go well with the game.

I am going back and create the original league with the settings I want...and see what happens.

Hopefully, it will work...and life will be great again in my fictional world of baseball.

I set up the league the way I wanted it...that is, I changed some of the default settings to suit my needs.

It fouled up again.

Regular Season and Post Season Schedule screen did not have players, who hit home runs in the game.

Post Season Box Scores did not accumulate stats in doubles, triples, homers, RBIs...pitchers W-L record and ERA were "0-0" and "0.00".

I will try another test league and go back to using almost all of the game's default settings.

I can't get this fixed otherwise.

Maybe someone from OOTPB can offer some assistance and tell me what is going on.

If you give me the option to change settings to fit my league, the game should still operate properly.

I can't get it to do it.

Sorry for the two threads.

They started off as separate threads and have evolved into one.

I will post only in the other thread labeled "Problem with Post Season Stats".

Great News for me.

I found a work around.

I left most of the default settings alone except for those I absolutely had to change...and it worked...problem disappeared and I can now run my league.

re-installing game questions

I purchased the game through the download method on the OOTP2006 site, without a CD. I uninstalled it due to problems I was having and assumed I could simply go back and download the game again. Is this true? If so, could anyone tell me exactly where to go or what I need to do to re-install the game.

Thanks. Would hate to think I uninstalled it permanently.

You can e mail me at worl4@hotmail.com with specifics if that is easier.

Thanks guys.

Worl4,

All you have to do is go to the OOTPB website and download the game again.

I had uninstalled V2006 and did not have the Game Setup. I had to download the original release version because it has the Game Setup. After downloading the original version and installing the game, I went back and downloaded the latest patch.

It was easy to do. I am computer-challenged. Even I could do it.

You don't have to worry about your e-license. It is only involved when you are putting the game on another computer or reformatting your computer. In those cases you need to unlicense the game before you do any of those things. And then relicense afterwards. You do this in the Control Panel on your computer. It is listed under "e-license", I think.

Hope this help.

My stats problems were caused by setting the stats to "low detail".

This cuts out some post season stats in the box scores and also will not put the name of the players who hit home runs in the game on the League Schedule screen, both regular season and post season.

Set your stats to "normal detail" and all is fine.
