Just bought OOTP8

Hey all,

I just purchased OOTP8 last night and had a question. Is it just like previous games in which I need to download some file in order to do Historical Leagues?

The last version I had before this was OOPT6 and I know I had to download something in order to get all the players and what not from year to year.

Also wondering what you guys thought of the game. I liked 6 a lot and am hoping for more of the same.

Also, if there is a website I need to go to in order to download stuff, please let me know. I appreciate it!

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

OOTP 4 was great, OOTP 5 was great, OOTP 6 was great, OOTP 6.5 was great, OOTP 2006 was horrible, OOTP 2007 is great. OOTP8 is basically just OOTP'07 with a few improvements. I'm not going to get OOTP8, but I thoroughly enjoy OOTP 2007. Well worth the price of admission.

Helton72, the database is built into the game nowadays.

You can go to the mod site to get player pics and logos, if you want.

Oh it is built in? Very nice. I'll have to try it out and make sure I do it right haha. Having it built in makes things a lot easier.

Thanks for all the feedback guys

Ok now I'm having a problem...

I tried to do a historical league and tried to start in 1910...

Do I have to change the "path to database" in order to make it work? I tried two times in a row to do it and whenever I tried to go to the next step, the game crashed on me. Can anyone help?

Too bad you haven't gotten a response. I don't have OOTP8 so I can't really give you an answer. In theory, I would think that if OOTP8 comes with the database you wouldn't have to change a thing. Seems like that isn't the case for you however. Try asking in the New To The Game forum.

Any of the other databases will work with OOTP 08, as listed on the web link above for padrefans web site.

Just follow the manual on how to add mods.

However, the built-in database is a nice touch and is current through the end of 2007. For a really easy start for the MLB 2007 season, load the game with the MLB 2007 quick start that is found in the game (OOTP 08).

You'll start with current rosters, full rosters and everything ready to play for the 2007 season.
