Ballparks
I would really love to see ball park photos with ball flight already set for each team (at least for the new season at minimal) included with the game. The flavor of team parks, the ambiance the teams home ball parks is a large part of baseball.
I know you can add your own in. I spent hours (and I mean hours) trying to adjust things for a new season. It was a very frustrating experience... much more than it should have been. |

I think including ballparks might be a copyright violation. I don't use the ball flight at all. Reading the pbp is much better and it's impossible for the eyes to do both at the same time. That said what's really needed is a simple drag and drop to make it easy to set the ball flights so it takes less than a minute per park to set up.

While I could care less if the photos r available but having somethign similair to Gambo's 2007 seating chart a part of the game already would be nice....it took me approx 2 hrs to put in info for 12 parks last night......but Gambo's file is my 2nd fav next to uniform files that the mods have created.

Almost every other company includes ball parks. Therefore I do not believe that it is a copywrite violation. Others have claimed that including the actual team name, (i.e Yankees, Red Sox, etc.) is a violation... <shrug> OOTP includes these....
Whenever I create a fictional season replay (and yes, single season replay is an option so therefore he excepts people to play in this manner)... it seems to assign incorrect ballparks, etc., therefore using the parks.dat file from another season rarely if ever works... Every historical team should have a default ballpark assigned to it... the ball flight should be saved with that ball park and therefore when you assign a photo to that ballpark and setup the ball flight it will come through to any team in any year that you use that stadium. It is almost like there is something fundamentally wrong with the ball park system.... I am 100% sure there is something fundamentally wrong with trying to assign actually player photos if you are playing more than one season, or doing a historical season versus replaying the newest season. |

The player photos usually work ok though. As long as the photos are named properly (by name or id), they should get assigned to the players automaticlly. You don't need to assign them each season. Of course if you want a player to have his photo change each year you may need to assign them manually. |

There are multiple photo sets available for d/l that are already named properly, so I'd say the photos work as their designed to do. |

Padresfan has a whole set of stadiums for OOTP taken from MLB The Show and a parks.dat file to go with it available on his site. All you have to do is extract the files and copy the park.dat file over your existing one. All current stadiums, player positions, ball flight, all done. Very nice and lovely to look at.

If the names match and are formatted correctly, they will show up.

hmm i could never get them to work. It used to work for me in 6.5, but have never been able to get it to work since. The ballpark info would load, but never the pictures. I usually try and save a quickstart after i get the ballparks loaded

No, the parks.dat file does all the work. All you ever have to do is extract the files to right directories like it says in the instructions.

in both my historical and in my ABF i use multiple ballpark pics so i have to do the dimensions by hand using gambo's 2007 SC. I use 99% MLB 10 parks but I also use some MVP 05 and many Blueturf's the OTB no lights work great for historical. so i am never committed to 1 file so the park.dat never works for me properly.

The nickname itself, i.e. Yankees, Red Sox, Padres, are generally not copyrighted. But the combination of the city with a particular nickname is, i.e. New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, etc. |

Be sure and read the readme file or it won't work.

thank you!
It worked fine for a 2010 season. I have a feeling that it will not work so well for other seasons because for some odd reason when I start a historical replay it seems to randomly assign stadiums to teams (which seems very weird to me). Anyway, it worked just fine for the 2010 season. Last edited by RandyMyers; 01-29-2011 at 10:42 PM. |

Assigns random park for just 1 season or for say an 1871-2009 league? I am in 1898 and all my parks have been accurate so far
