Im setting up a new league in OOTP18 and want it to be in 2018 and not 2017. How do I change that?

I'm pretty sure you have to create a fictional league, but use the "real major league" option. There you can change the date.
I essentially did this, but chose 1999 as my starting year. |

My problem is I had already created the league. I just started over and was able to change it there.

you can start any year, you can also have a different "historical year" that will control other settings, fyi....
anything 2017+ will not change on its own, of course. no historical data to base it upon. But, you could do 2059 with "1971" historical settings etc. if you pre-date anything and do not want it to import historical stuff, you set "historical year" to 2017+ and it won't change things as time passes. if oyu are doing ficitonal players -- i'd suggest pre-dating ~25 years, then sim to intended start year and erase league history -- it can be just like starting new. Seed players are not the same as what will be created over time. plus, you get a more complete FA pool starting year 1. numerous benefits i wouldn't worry about that until you are setting a league up exactly how you want it... no sense investing the time to sim 25 years if you will play 3-5 then restart. |
