Fictional Historic League setup question

I'm wanting to play a league with historical players (starting 1871) but move teams and expand as I want, while still having the historical players playing when they really did. However, I would love their stats and careers to be random in how they produce based on where they play (ballpark modifiers, to play a role, not player modifiers)
What is the best way to set this up to keep stats realistic?

Pretty sure that's how the game works at its default settings, isn't it? Those playing at hitter's parks will be helped and vice-versa?

So just set up the league as a historical in the year you want to start, turn off auto-expansion, set recalc to however granular you want it to be (1 / 3 / 5-year, choose between single- and double-weight) and choose whatever other settings you want applied. I think you should be good to go with that, but might be missing something.

G

PS Beware and aware of the challenges involved with those 19th century seasons. Not a lot of players to go around and the like makes it a tricky era for OOTP.

Thank you, I dove into a bunch of reading on here and I think I have finally figured out how to set up the world I want while replaying baseball. Thank you again for your input, it's confusing trying to figure out all the smaller details in trying to get this setup

No problems and good luck. Oh, and one more thing - SAVE A COPY of the game at regular intervals along the way, so you have something to go back to if one addition breaks things.

I will be doing that, already messed up a couple of them and had nothing to go back to. But since I am still working in a trial phase it hasn't been too heartbreaking.

I'll put this out here for input and our guidance as I think I have finally come to figure out how I want to run this....
For starters on the stats I'm using, I've taken info from baseball reference for all seasons dating back to 1871 (When I am starting my new baseball world). I've added all the stats up to get a total for everything the game ask for in stats setting. I then divided the totals by the complete number of teams that played to get a team average in each stat category. So to get my stats, I simply multiply the stat by the current number of teams in my league. I leave the autocal multiplier on for some variances. I plan to leave the stats with the average for the duration of my game, trying to even the playing field across the eras to see how people stack up.
I'm starting in 1871, but using the APBL as my initial league (I don't care as much about skewed pitching wins and stuff in this league) I'll run this as the only league, expanding the roster counts as players allow to build up numbers in the game. in 1900, MLB will form, pulling players from ALPB and grow from there. (Going to attempt to use 5 man rotations from the start to keep pitching equal) And will expand with MiLB and a couple other independents as things allow.
Hopefully this will allow career leaderboards to be in reach for all MLB players and see how they stack up on fairly equal league settings across the board.

Be interested to see how that goes for you.
