3D Play Speech Delay Issue
Does anyone have the issue where the 3D play occurs and then the announcer is talking after the play has basically ended (text to speech). I have set the 3D a couple different ways, and here is how I have it now. Is there a better way to have the action set to start or slow down and match the announcer?

I don't think you will find any setting that will make the "full detail" pbp work well.
Change the pbp from "Full Detail" to "Short PBP". You will still get some runover on long descriptions, but for the most part the pbp will lineup with the action much better. You will lose a lot of descriptive text, but still get a good report of the action.

Thanks, OK, I did try that, and I was not happy to continue to hear the announcer give the details of the play in statistical terms (Fly Out 78M.....). It seems odd that the short version has the extra statistical description, and the long version does not. It would be nice to toggle the statistical terms off and on for those who like it.

Keep in mind all of the text files were written when the game was text only. There may be some small additions/corrections and such since, but the base file was written for text only.
In that context the short pbp had to convey the ball location to the user since the full description was cut to, make the pbp short. ![]() Since TTS only reads the text as delivered I suppose one could edit out locations? But I think that is probably a large undertaking or they would have done it already? In any case I'd love it if they did have a file without the statistical terms. I don't know if I've seen this in the suggestion thread before? Might be worth a mention?

Over the past few years I have placed over 200 3D OOTP games on YouTube and all use Game Sounds + Text to Speech. The announcer will lag some compared to the action on the field but I will give the settings which work best for me.
Game Sounds+Text to Speech enabled. PBP Full Detail PBP Speed Normal PbP Delay Per Character but I found that the animations at normal speed are a little too fast for things like ground ball outs and triples as just time the guys hitting triples as an experiment at normal animation speed and they will go from home to third faster than the Olympic champion sprinters. so, try this: 3D Animation Speed---Very Slow It will take a few games to get used to animation speed at Very Slow but you will learn to appreciate it over time. Timing of plays compared to real life is better at Very Slow but the announcer will still have a bit of a lag. Last edited by kcstengelsr; 04-02-2024 at 11:14 AM. |
