Too Many Shutouts...
Up until now, I have accepted the plethora of shutouts as just a quirk of the new game. That was until my team was involved in four shutouts in five games.
We won the first one 4-0 on May 7th, before being victimized by a no-hitter the following night. We returned to form THE NEXT NIGHT (!) with another shutout (8-0) on the 9th. We won an good old fashiled 2-1 game on the 10th, before being shut out again on the 11th!!!!!!!! All told, there were 8 shutouts posted over those 5 days (7 in ML, 1 in AA). That's just silly. |

Here are a couple of basic questions.
Is this patched? Can your team hit? Or is it full of Spike Owens clones? Is this a default set up? |

Another one:
Are you using MLEs? If you have the MLEs set very low, then it depresses the BABIP. Same probably goes for the PCEs, if you don't edit fielding. |

Are there really too many shutouts? I looked back over one of my test leagues (8 teams, default major league settings for MLEs and all that jazz) a few days ago, and the number of shutouts seemed to be right in line with recent MLB numbers. MLB had 10.7% shutouts last season, happened to have 10.7% as well through June 10th or so this season (the day I checked the numbers), and my test league averaged 10.6% through its first 10 years - max 12.9%, min 8.8%.
Could be a coincidence, of course, but at any rate, the default settings don't seem wildly off to me. I think the fact that half the news stories seem to be reports of a shut-out might be the "problem" here, reinforced by the occasional improbable streak like jbsnadb's. |

I think the "problem" is exaccerbated by the fact that very few feat warrant news items beside shutouts.

Are you running and v6.5 import league or a league created in 2006? I did a little testing with this and my results are in this link. |

So sorry for the hideously slow response to this thread.
![]() Please let us know if you're still seeing this issue. As jeter mentioned, we're seeing marked differences between the behavior of fictional, historical, and imported leagues, so please let us know what your league is like. Of course, at this point, we'll be anxious to hear how it works in the latest patch set. Thanks very much, Steve |

We have a new rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.
This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this. If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!) Steve |
