Fatal Application Exit

"Unable to open the user data folder! Please reinstall Out of the Park Baseball."

What the hell? How do I fix this? I've reinstalled twice. Do I need to uninstall OOTP2006 first?

Are you trying to set a custom data path in the options?

No need to uninstall OOTP2006.
Is your "My Documents" folder probably on a network drive?

Yeah. Can't play the game if the "my documents" is on a network drive?

Yes, you can, but in that case you might need to change a setting. Please give me a minute.

It "worked" for me but I had administrator access to the PC. It put the user data folder at the root of C: so you would need full access to the C drive in order to access it. This might not be the case if it's a work computer.

That should be fine. Mine spans two drives as well. His problem is that it's a network drive, not physically on his PC, and it sounds like he might not have admin rights.

That sucks. I do my best BLB stuff at work.

This is stupid.

There's no way to move the SI folder from "My Documents" over to some folder on the C drive and change the settings on the game?

Here's an idea that *might* work. Log off, unplug your PC from the network and log back in. Install the game (it should install to c:\documents and settings\etc\etc) then move the data folder in the game to a location on the C: drive that you have full access to.

You should then be able to reconnect it to the network and log back in.

That will not work
With the network activated again, OOTP will search the data there. It always looks in the My Documents folder.

Same issue here. I'd be interested in a fix also, Andreas. Thanks for looking into it.

Hi folks,

Please give this a try:

Edit: Since we just posted that information, I'd appreciate it if you would let us know if it worked, and if the instructions were clear!

Unsuccessful.

The only thing that was potentially unclear for me was whether the 'OOTP Baseball 2007' file should be copied, or just the contents, ie the 'data' folder.

Please add the word "tracemode" to the command line which starts the game. Then send me the game log file please. I'll write detailled information how to do that and add it to the FAQ in a minute.

Success!

I had orginally named the config file 'path' instead of 'paths'. When I corrected that, it fired right up. Big thanks to Andreas & Steve!

Edit for Andreas - I didn't need to use the tracemode recommendation. battist's original instructions worked save for my inability to follow simple instructions.
