How do I import a historical data to create a fictional league?

Hi,

New guy here with some hopefully basic needs I can't figure out how to fill.
I want to import historical mlb stats and create a new fictional league like this:

1. The league would start in 2007 using 2006 MLB stats as the most recent statistics.
2. The league would follow the MLB structure (same number of teams, wild card, etc.) but have fictional names, colors, etc.
3. The "major league" level of the new fictional league would be started with an innagural draft.
4. For simplicity sake (and for ease of use for me), I'd like to have, if possible, fully stocked historical, current minor leagues matched up with these new, fictional major league teams (so, say the new London Lions or whatever are the major league team created with an innagural draft with say, david ortiz and hideki matsui and scott rolen on the same team, but the Lions have , say, the St. Louis Cardinals farm system.)

Is this hard to do? Can someone help me?

Thanks!

Discuss historical simulations and their results in this forum.

I don't know much about minor league setup, but I do exactly what you describe (real players and fantasy teams).

Start by creating a historical league w/ 2006 data (I would not choose the all history option). I would also not use the wizard as it does not allow you the option to have the 2006 real stats appear in player profile/history (at least, I've not seen it).

Once you've setup your league w/ 2006 players and real mlb teams you can release all players and have an inagural draft or not. After you've released all the players, simply use the Game Setup option/ Edit League Structure and remove the existing MLB divisions and teams and create fantasy ones.

Use the 'create historical league' option. In the league structure, change the names of the teams/nicknames or randomize it.

The Lahman database doesn't have any information on minor leagues so you won't be able to create the same minor league structure.

If you want to maintain the minor league structures, the theortically way to do it is to..
1. Create a historical league starting in 2006.
2. Export the roster set
3. Create a standard league with the inaugrual draft.
Here's where it gets tricky. I don't know how to do #4
4. Delete all the players in the standard league
5. Import the roster set
6. Run your draft.
