Virtual Memory

I have no other programs running. I have 512mb of ram and for some reason when i start to import players on a historical league it freezes. and i get a virtual memory minimum too low.

Are you attempting to import the complete history?

That's definitely your issue then. What year are you attempting to start in? Importing the entire history is really hard on systems with lower amounts of memory as it's basically pulling the entire lahman db into memory and generating a lot of html pages. There are a few other threads here and in the general 2007 forums that go into importing the entire history. You might check them out to get an idea of whether you're going to be able to do it or not given the amount of memory that you have.

There are some tweaks you can do to maximize your system and thus be able to import huge amounts of history. Are you using XP? Vista? Let me know.

Well, it seems that there have been more problems mentioned when using the Gambo db, so if you're doing that, you might try lahman.

I'd appreciate some XP tweaks if you have any. Thanks.

Ok I find a minor fix. I changed my selection of Adjust to Peak Seasons to Remaining Career. It still took like 5 hours using the Lahman 5.4 but at least it moved.

"6. Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, ADVANCED. click SETTINGS under PERFORMANCE. click custom and remove the check marks from as many as possible. Click APPLY. Then click ADVANCED and under VIRTUAL MEMORY, click CHANGE. Click CUSTOM SIZE and type in the number that is 3X your actual memory on your system (i.e. 512 x 3 = 1536). Restart your pc after this."

A question about this one. I went to type in my number (960 x 3 = 2880), and it had two blanks. ""Initial size" and "maximum size." For now, I put 2880 in both, is this right, or should I do something else?

btw, so far, my commit charge is down from 1005/2312 to 546/2312 !! Thanks for the help
