Exclamation Macintosh version doesn't stay "awake"

I started a new league and wanted to give the game a bit of history, so I started a fifty year simulation and headed out for dinner. I figured when I got back the sim would be over, but alas the "sleep" feature of the Mac kicked in after 15 minutes like I have it set to. Mac programs shouldn't sleep unless there's nothing going on with them. It doesn't just take into effect keyboard/mouse movement, it also takes into effect actions occurring within the program. Sort of like how I can start Quicktime if I'm rendering a movie and leave it on overnight to do the rendering. Please fix OOTP so that if you're running a big simulation, it keeps the computer "active" and doesn't start the sleep timer. Thanks!

Forgot to mention...

It might come in handy to know what computer I'm running this on. It's a G5 PowerMac and it's running OS X version 10.4.9.

Is that a 10.4 thing? I have 10.3.9 and had to turn the sleep function off because it kept going to sleep in the middle of emptying the trash, verifying/repairing permissions, downloading, or practically anything else.

I'm not sure, it's been a while since I used 10.3. I love the sleep function for things like this. One thing in particular that I use it for is for recording radio shows. In Audio Hijack, you can configure AH to wake your computer up at a particular time, record whatever's coming over the line in jack for however long you need it to, and then when the show's over, the sleep timer begins and in 15 minutes or whenever, the computer goes into sleep mode. I'd like to be able to start up a sim in OOTP and then hit the sack and know that my computer's not going to shut off midway through.

hmm, ive never had an issue w/the os going to sleep in the middle of running a league, and i did a lot of long sims (ie 1901-current), never once did it sleep, just screen saver.

my macbook is set to sleep after 45 min inactive, "i unchecked the box for putting the hard disk(s) to sleep whenever possible."

i can bring this to the beta team, though i didnt hear anything from the rest of the mac team about this coming up before.

edit: im currently using 10.4.9

Weird! I'm going to try it on my Powerbook G4 and see if sleep works OK there.

It doesn't seem to happen on my Powerbook. I'm going to try it again on the G5 tonight. Maybe it was a fluke.

It must have been a fluke. I ran a sim last night and it didn't sleep until it was done. Disregard this one, sorry.
