HOF Issue

This situation occurs when two (or more) independent leagues, each of which with its own Hall of Fame. It appears that if a player's career stats (across all leagues) meet the requirements for induction into the HOF of the last league in which he played, then he will be inducted into that HOF. This rule isn't really problematic, although I personally think the player should be inducted into the HOF of the league in which he played most of his career.

However, the problem is that the player's stats that display on the HOF page are only those for the league. I have set up a series of Independent minors, and majors leaguers sometimes play out their last years in lower minor leagues. I have a number of players in minor league HOFs that show 52 games played or some such thing.

I think there is a disconnect somewhere. Either:

1. Only the career stats in a particular league should be used to determine whether a player makes it into that league's HOF (and all leagues should be checked at retirement, not just the last league played in), OR

2. A player's career stats (across all leagues) should display on the HOF page for a league, regardless of in what league they were achieved.

Just to clarify.

Are you saying that

Player A has 1500 hits in League 1
and 1500 hits in League 2.

He'll be inducted in the HoF?

or

Player B has 500 hits in League 1
and has 3000 hits in League 2

He shows up in both HOFs, with only 500 hits in the League 1 HOF? If so, this is how it was last year as well, and don't think it's something that can be fixed.

That's a good question. I'm not sure, but I think it is probably situation #2.

While it's a little strange to see the player inducted in league #2 when they spent 99% of their career in league #1, I think the situation would be a little better if the player's total career stats (or at least the stats that got him inducted) were displayed on the HOF screen.

"Beings will come, Frodo. The one constant through all the years has been baseball. Middle Earth has rolled by like an army of Mumakil. It has been erased like a slate, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Frodo. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... beings will come Frodo. Beings will most definitely come." - Gladden Field of Dreams
