AI Flaws still pretty apparent
I'm seeing some crazy AI moves in a league I started with Lahman in 1997, simmed to expansion, then I took over an expansion team. I've seen teams trade for players, only to release them the next day, eating contracts in the process, and I mean trading decent young players (and a draft pick) for vets, then turning around and releasing the vets the next day. I'm getting sign and releases. This is disappointing.

RonCo is the guy to talk to about sign-and-release problems.

On the subject of "EVER" ... I do not and cannot speak for Marks or SI or Sega. I am just a tester. I know how frustrated you must be. On the other hand, I doubt seriously if you (the generic you) will ever come across an AI that won't make errors--artificial intelligence is an extremely complex field, and to expect a game written by an essentially lone developer to never make a mistake is ... well ... it's just unlikely to happen. My main goal in this year's effort has been to help Markus find big holes that caused hundreds of these kinds of things. The data I've seen so far says that on the whole, he's been successful. It would not surprise me, though, that some more unique issues would arise in situations that we haven't fully tested--the draft and release process is one of those. That one has a TT now. If we can determine the situation of you issue, I can try to write a test procedure that will determine how often it occurs across a league's history, and then we may be able to chase down a root cause. |
