Automator Bug

Upload league reports function does not work (and hasn't worked since release, I just keep forgetting to report it ) when done from automator. It does not finish for me, forcing me to ESC out of it and do them manually.

It's the late night baseball file, by the way.

Since the official policy down here in Tech Support is that issues are dealt with from oldest to newest, bumping is contraindicated in this section of the forum.

How long have you let it sit before giving up on it? I can say that this feature does work. There is an option in report settings labled "Toggle Upload Mode". There is an option to upload one file at a time, which takes forever, or you can create an archive then upload, which takes less time. To use the archive option, your server needs to allow server-side extracting. I would give that a try, and see if it at least gets it uploaded. IF not, maybe try uploading it overnight and see if it finishes.

Also, to make the file smaller, you can change the number of days' reports that you want to upload, and which reports to upload. To make sure you have your FTP settings correct, maybe select a small number of reports and just one leagues News reports.

Like I said, this feature does work, and it is very helpful, so I hope you can get it to work for you.

I let it sit overnight when I was still trying it.

It works in the Reports Center, it just doesn't work in the Automator.

hmm, I sense there is still something that isn't right. You double checked the settings in the "report settings" button on the main page of the automator, correct?

The reason this is strange is that 1) it works for me in two leagues, and 2) the automator is just a central place for all the other features, so for the reports, it is just running the "reports center" from one central place, so it's doing the same thing.

Yep. Set up exactly as it is in reports center.

Does the automator get stuck at any specific point?
Are you just doing the reports upload, or do you have other steps checked off?

I have it save/backup, sim 7 days, generate/upload league file, generate/upload reports, generate/upload status report.

Everything works except the reports, which freezes on players somewhere around 15% every time. When I ESC out of it, the status report is already uploaded (and says the reports were uploaded as well).

Do me a favor. Try doing "just" the HTML reports, and see if the same thing happens.

So, you'll have it "saved" (does that automatically) then upload the reports, nothing else.

It uploads the reports fine. It freezes on the generation of the reports. Same as with everything else checked.

How do you know that it uploads the reports fine, if it doesn't get through the generation process?

If it is stalling in the exact same spot every time, which I believe you said was "players" could you try unchecking all the player's pages and upload the other pages and see if that works? I'm having a hard time grasping what the problem here could be.

Well, I'm assuming the reports upload fine; its hard to tell (since all the files are already uploaded), but the status report always says it they uploaded.

And even if this finds a workaround, I'm still going to need to use reports center anyway.

I'm working with fidel to get a server-side extraction utility working so I can just use that archive feature.

Umm... there's a problem with that statement (possibly a typo?): the HTML reports are generated before they are archived/uploaded - if the Automator is freezing while generating the reports, they can't be uploading fine.

If you're saying that, despite the screen "freezing", your web reports are getting updated fine each time you do this, then the reports feature - both the creation and uploading - is working perfectly fine, and the only possible bug is a GUI one, since the creation/uploading dialog should obviously be going away when the process completes.

But I suspect that wasn't what you were trying to say?

Well, I'm trying to find out where the problem is so I can report it to Markus, I'm not trying to find a work-around. In one of my earlier posts I suggested testing the archive feature, just to see if it uploads. Did you do that, and did it work? If so, there seems to be somethign wrong with the one page at a time uploading on your machine.

When I ESC out during generation, the status report still says the pages were uploaded successfully, and the ones that WERE generated ARE uploaded. So no, there was no typo.

Magnet, which one is it? You "think" they are uploaded as in the first post, or you know for sure they were uploaded, because you checked the time stamp on your FTP server?

I didn't even think to check the timestamp. No, they don't upload.

Ok, so the problem lies with the generating of the reports. Seemingly the "player" reports. Were you able to leave out the player reports and see if the reports were generated, so we can try to pinpoint this even further?
