Game Crashes When Simming

Version: 2.0.0.235
PC/MAC: PC
What were you doing? I was trying to Sim a day
What happened? It crashed. Told me that ootp2007.exe had encountered an error and needed to close
Reproducible? Yes
Problem occurs with other leagues? Yes

Originally I thought one of my databses was corrupted but this is happening across all leagues that I have. It happens every time I try to Sim a day or more. I can't play the game at all, so help is appreciated ASAP.

I have looked, and will continue to look, for potential fixes in the forums. I have already reinstalled the game twice and loaded a backup database to try and start over but it's not working. I even went out and bough an additional 1GB of RAM. Not helping.

Sigh.

What month are you in? Give us more details on your league, size of it, minors, etc.

Have you deleted any teams or sub leagues after you created it?

Most of these type of errors are caused by some off the wall setting.

I would try simming one game at a time and see which game it is crashing on. Then take a look at the teams ballpark settings.

I'm in August of 2019 in my main; league started in 2015

32 team major league with 5 affiliates each. I have a few other leagues running without a human manager: Japan (with AAA), Taiwan, Korea, Mexico and a fictional Canadian league. The majors has two feeder leagues, one HS and one COL. I did have an independent minor league that I deleted during the past off season.

However, the game is crashing when I switch to other universes or even a brand new standard league that I created to test for the problem. I don't think I have any off the wall settings, certainly not in the quick standard league I created for a test. Also, there is not any certain day that it crashes on. Sometimes it plays a day and crashes and sometimes it crashes the first day and sometimes it crashes after a few days.

Nevertheless, I will try simming one game at a time to see if it crashes on a specific game.

A couple more questions for you:

When did you start seeing these crashes? Clearly, you were able to play the game correctly for some time.

How much hard drive space do you have available?

I only started to see these crashes yesterday. Prior to this I had been playing alomst two weeks and a few times the game "crashed" when I was exiting, but always after the actual save had been completed. In other words, I could start the game again where I left off without problem, so it didn't appear these "crashes" had affected anything.

I have 94.9 GB of space currently on my hard drive.

OK, here's an update. I created a simple Cuban league, turned off the facegen, and it plays fine.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, it may be an issue with the size of your leagues. Do smaller, shorter universes work and larger, long-standing leagues not work?

Can you play your other leagues with FaceGen turned off?

I did a little experimenting last night. I loaded the World of Baseball download which seems to have nearly every league in existence and tried to play. Face Gen was turned off. Never got past the first day.

Next, I went to a prior back up of my current league, which was from opening day 2017, and lo and behold, I got through the entire season!

I even turned facegen back on in the middle, after making a new backup, and it worked fine. When I exited the game I got the same error message as I have been getting. On reloading, everything was fine although I only simmed one day this time.

My league was actually bigger in 2017, as I had deleted a league after this season (see prior post). This makes me wonder if something happened after I deleted that league? However, as noted, I did create and try to play a standard major league with the standard minors and it consistently crashed within a day or two.

I'm going to keep simming today from the backup start and see how it goes. Although I won't delete the indpendent minor league again, I am going to atempt some other changes that I made previously having to do with the age of players created for feeder leagues and some of the financials. If I crash again I'll follow up with a post, and if not I'll do nothing here.

Hrm. Okay, let us know if you have any further trouble. It's still not fully clear what has been causing your problems.

Well, I crashed again late last night. I was into August of the 2018 season when the game crashed while simming a week. (Is the month of August somehow corrupted?) Anyway, I will go to the the prior backup from early August of 2018 sometime tonight and see what happnes, then post the results.

Well, the game worked just fine when I went to the backup. I think this has to somehow be hardware related as I can't find any logical reason for these crashes. Thanks for the help.

All right. I'll close out this thread, then. If you want to discuss it further in the future, however, ask a moderator to re-open it and we can continue to talk it over.
