Don't know if anyone's mentioned this before but every copy of Baseball Digest between the 40's and 1997 is now available at google book search.

I purchased, and devoured, every Baseball Digest from about 1965 into the 1990's, and will STILL pick it up if it catches my attention.

It was always worth a couple of weeks in the winter, checking out the stats of the vets, and wondering if the stats for rookies would hold up over time, or flame out.

I stumbled across it some months back. I was entering search terms in Google and some the results came up from Google Books.

It's great, because they often have free preview pages of books, and usually there's enough of a preview to either find directly what you're looking for, and if not that, then enough to see if the book in question would be worth trying to buy or borrow from the library, as availability dictates. I've bought two books because of the previews of them available via Google Books.
