Issue loading games from main menu

I have updated with all the latest patches and have downloaded latest online league file. When I go to load game it says "could not load world data:" "File is either corrupt or old file"
* I have tried to run as adminsitrator
* I have deleted and reloaded files.
* I saved to saved games folder and the .lg is there and the files are .dat
* I created a new game to see if that works and once I go back into the game and try and continue, it gives me the same error.
* The game works fine but I am unable to load any saved games

Running off of Vista

Thanks,

So you can create new games, but as soon as you try to load *any* existing league, you get a message stating that the file is old or corrupt?

Yes, I created a historical league and another fictional league and got in and started editing and playing the game, but each time I exit and then try to get back in to play it gives the same error message.
I added ootp 9 to the firewall allowed list and even turned off the firewall.
I can not load any games.

Are any of your .dat files from your saved games 0 kB in size?

Could you please try uninstalling and reinstalling OOTP 9 with version 9.2.13?

I reloaded the game and still no files. I have saved the files in the saved games folder, but when I go into the game preferences and try and load from the custom user data path, all the files are shaded and not bold so I can't access them. The commish sent me a skeleton file to see if that works, but the same error. It also shows no stored files when I try to load a game file.

In your saved_games folder, you should have a number of .lg folders. These represent your saved games. Within each .lg folder, there should be a number of .dat files. How many .dat files are in your .lg folders and are any of them 0 kB in size?

Have you tried editing your custom user data path?

League folder is Asahi2.lg and there 17 folders with none of them at 0 kb. They list as file type Video CD movie and can be opened by Nero9

Where did you put your custom data path? Is it on your main hard drive? Could you try moving it back to a default location?

Rogocop is a member of my league. Now that I see your posts here, something has occurred to me...

Did you happen to have a power outage or any other shutdowns of power to your computer while the game was on your screen?

Are you using the default data path?

I don't think that the world.dat file ought to ever be 0 kb. Did you crash or close the game while saving?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I have not changed the default path. It is currently C:\Documents and Settings\BBY\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\saved_games.

No crashes that I am aware of.

I'll try reinstalling the game now.

Issue persists

I executed a complete install, but the leagues still are not able to load. I'd like to find a way to save the leagues, especially because I've spent over 40 hrs on it already.

Thanks for your help.

tried reinstaling and creating new leagues

I tried re-installing and creating new leagues. Still I get the same error and have a world.dat file with 0kb.

Could I have the wrong default path?

The path ought to stop at the saved games folder and should not include a .lg folder. If it includes the .lg folder, then the game will look for .lg folders within the .lg folder. However, yes, you should be putting your .lg folders in the saved games folder.

I am still having issues. My games will not load world.dat, but the files is chock full of the Asahi2 league files, but when I try to access them they are shaded gray and not bold in the saved games folder. Same thing happens to new games created. Have loaded and reloaded several times, but no luck. I am running the programs out of program files 86x. I am running Vista and have even run the compatibility wizard.

Can you please post the exact directory path that your .lg folders sit in? It should be listed in the Address Bar in Windows Explorer (when you click on My Computer and follow the icon links to the right directory).
